What wedding vision have you changed or compromised?

As I am getting more into the wedding planning process, I find the "vision" I had for my wedding changing a little bit.

The thing that I changed that I absolutely did not think I was going to compromise on was having an indoor ceremony. I had always envisioned an indoor ceremony for myself, and now my ceremony is outside in November in a garden! And, surprisingly, I am okay with it because I really love the space.

What part of your wedding vision have you changed/compromised?

    I always thought, being that I'm such a bargain shopper in every day life that I would splurge on a designer wedding gown... Then i realized what else i could put that $$ towards. One of my best friends has since started designing clothes & will be making my gown as my gift.

    So much has changed for us. I originally wanted navy blue and canary yellow for our colors, and now we have black & ivory (no accent color). I wanted to be in the mountains during the fall, we're kind of in the mountains during late summer. I always wanted a big wedding party and now we have a wedding party of 5. Wanted lots of flowers and sparkles, and now it's burlap and lace. I've changed a lot to work with FH who in the beginning said "The wedding day is a day that all girls dream of, so however you want to do it, I'm fine with it!" ---haha okay!

    Our plan was to go back to the Bahamas, the 1st place we ever went on vacation and wed barefoot in the sand with the ocean waves crashing behind us....just the two of us. So much for that, now it seems like everybody and their mama is coming.

    Alcohol. I don't feel comfortable around drunk people due to some previous bad experiences. We compromised to have an open bar for 1 hour and then the rest of the night would be beer and wine only.

    I grew up on the coast, so I always imagined a beach wedding. Until I found out prices, and that since Oregon legally has no private beaches, strangers in bathing suits could be walking by at any time during the ceremony. I'd rather not have photobombs, thank you very much!

    Inland, and garden themed it is, and I love it too! Smiley smile

    I wanted a small wedding of 50ish people. Ha that's not happening. Last time we checked, our invite list was around 180. FH is friends with everyone...it's what I love about him, but it definitely shattered my small wedding dreams

    I've had to make a few adjustments;

    1. I had always wanted a wedding outside and a reception inside at a nice resort and venue, but now I'm having a church wedding(again) and the reception will be in the fellowship hall of the same church so that means that I had to give up our "first dance" and any other dancing for that matter!

    2. The colors I chose were Champagne and Lavender with Silver accents, but because the dress that everyone loved at DB was $150 I felt guilty making them pay for that amount just for one day so I chose a different dress that is $74 instead and everyone could afford but now the new dress is Lilac instead of Lavender and the colors have of course changed to accommodate the lighter color Smiley sad. So needless to say I'm a bit sad but as long as I get to marry my FH it'll all be worth it!

    I always wanted a DW on a beach somewhere. FH wanted a traditional wedding because he "didn't want me to regret anything." Well he is now convinced and while its not the beach it is a DW in Vegas! Our plans/venue/date has changed 5-6 times but now its FINALLY set!

    You know that old saying never say never...My FH was married the first time at his sisters home & I swore any place but there. Then after almost 2 months of struggling to find a venue that would allow me to bring in food that we wanted and other things I said wait a minute who is suffering here. I decided that it was OUR wedding not theirs and if I wanted to do it at his sisters place ( which I loveeee ) then that was the place. Since then the stress has decreased & a calm took over about the rest of the decisions. Next was cupcakes vs cake. I loved the idea of being different with the cupcakes but the feel of the reception was not coming together so I went back to the cake idea and now I am set on that. I am bringing in an Italian Gelato bar with the cake for fun. Now I am in mid process of changing my mind on a biggie. The first look vs not seeing each other till wedding. I was very strictly against the first look but when I see how much more intimate the pics look I am not sure.

    I swore up and down a few months ago that I would never get married in a courthouse, "anywhere but there", and that's what we're doing cuz it's just more financially feasible. I always used to dream of walking down the aisle to my favorite song, but that ship sailed when we decided the ceremony would be more private =( I'll live, but I remind FH constantly of all I've compromised for his sake (and our wallets'). Any superstition of FH seeing me in the dress: that went down the toilet once I realized I didn't have any girlfriends to go with me & bounce ideas off of. Honeymoon plans: I used to dream of going on an exotic vacation to Hawaii, Puerto Rico (my baby sis went when she was 4; I've never been) or Europe since FH gets a wk of paid vacation & we didn't break the bank. But oh no, we still have to scrimp on our honeymoon. He almost tried to turn it into a family vacation with our son, but I didn't compromise on THAT one. We need couple time, even if it is only VA =P

    The food has changed. I keep adding things, like passing little desserts after dinner.
