What was your first impression of your future spouse?

LoMarissa7216, on January 27, 2016 at 12:27 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 96

Was it love or hate at first sight?

For me it was hate lol. My friend had been trying to set us up for a year and I finally agreed to hangout with him. We went to his house where he was having a party . I really didn't care for him, I thought he was so obnoxious and rude! Later that summer we drunkenly made out at a party and now we are six months from our wedding haha!

Anyways... Tell me what your first impression of your future spouse was!

The first time he spoke to me, he called me a "band wagon" Texan fan from across the teachers lounge and I hated him. I'm sure that will end up in my sister's speech!

The first time I saw him, he was walking into the office and I was in the conference room in a meeting. He had rode his motorcycle to work so he was in biker pants and jacket carrying a helmet, and I was like "hubba, hubba." The next time I saw him, I was making tea in the kitchen and he came in, and my second impression was "he's a total hottie!"

We met via eHarmony. I was initially interested in him because in his profile, he had the same interest in books and pets as I did. His profile pictures honestly intrigued me and had me a little suspicious because he looked pretty different in each photo.

When we met in person, I was honestly a little concerned. He looked so much like a former friend of mine I knew in college that didn't end well.

My first impression was that he was funny. I met him at Music Appreciation Club and him and his friend were kind of an awesome comedic duo in there for a while. 3 years later when we were both single his sense of humor is also what drew me to him again.

My FH and I were set up by a mutual friend. We met at her birthday get-together at a local bar/restaurant. I thought he was a little weird looking, and had the largest pecs I'd ever seen!! He had played college football (tight end and wide receiver) and was also playing semi-pro at the time, and I was used to dating the long and lanky type lol. And yes, all initial impressions were about looks haha. BTW, I no longer find him weird looking, just handsome Smiley smile

Our first interaction defined our entire relationship, honestly. We were at a friend's apartment and I was trying to get a beer pong (ping pong) ball out from underneath the tv stand. He's just sitting on the couch watching me so I turned to him and said "Are you just going to sit there and watch me struggle?" And he said "Yes, it's much funnier this way". I was like "Well okay! This guy isn't a little bitch. I like him". I didn't think he was cute in the face but then he showed me his abs and, well...we're married sooooo.

We met at a TGIF's during a service industry night. He thought I was dating a server that I was just sitting next to. He on the other hand had a girl meet him there that basically said "I want to take you home." during her meal while he waited on their table. So, not too much that night. Later in the week though. It all changed. Smiley smile

We didn't really like each other but we had a couple mutual friends so we hung out quite frequently (please note we met my freshman, his sophomore year of high school) We became friends and went on our first date with one of our mutual friends and my best friend (though it was more a group outing) and we flirted heavily after but when he didn't ask me out i was pissed. But he finally texted me (he was on a family vacation) at like 10pm and asked me out. i was going to say know but said best friend grabbed my phone and texted yes, the next morning she and i went to Martha's vineyard for a week. the rest is as they say history! And know you know my life's story lol.

My first thoughts were "wow he is tall" "his clothes are terrible" & " he makes good jungle juice". Turns out he was trying to dress "young". I've since banned skinny pants & plaid shirts from his wardrobe. We only talked for a little bit but I couldnt keep my eyes off of him lol.

@Crystal haha that is so wrong. @MissEtoMrsB Ed Hardy is a no-no. We actually didn't start dating until two years after we first met. I thought FH was too skinny for me! He was 6'2 and 140 lbs at the time.

I saw him in a bar and I'm not usually the type to notice guys or introduce myself, but I kept thinking about him for some reason and my gut told me if I didn't say hi that I'd regret it. So I introduced myself and we hit it off right away, I knew that night that he was the right one. It sounds super cheesy, but it's true.

We met at a bar through mutual friends. I thought he was really cute and he was talking about hockey so I was in love immediately. Then out of no where some chick pulled him aside and flipped out on him for talking to me and not answering her texts from across the bar. She had been watching us for a while. I asked the other people who we were with who she was and they informed me she wasn't the gf or ex gf, just someone who he used to hook up with and was very crazy. Welp I like a challenge so it intrigued me even more. Safe to say I won the prize Smiley winking !!

I first met him at a big party in college, I thought he was cool but I was hanging out with my friends so not really interested.

The real first impression for me was the next day he used my teammates to track me down on campus to ask for my number and a first date. I've been told I'm intimidating (thanks resting bitch face lol) so the initiative was really attractive!

I thought he was just such a nice guy and funny. I actually told MOH (my best friend) about him when talking about work (FH and I met while working at Pizza Hut) and she was like "you should date him". I was like "nah".

The first time I saw FH in person (we met online), he was smoking a cigarette and had his had turned around backwards I looked at my best friend and her hubby and told them if I went missing that he probably kidnapped me! Lol I told FH about this a few months afterwards and he admitted that he told his friends that I was not his type but that he would give me one chance! And here we are almost 9 months later!

Online: I absolutely love that he has dinner with his grandparents every Friday night (and it wasn't a lie, he really did that with his sister). He is not always the most photogenic, so he was cute in some pictures, but less so in others.

In person: He's cuter but shorter than I expected!

We worked in the car business, and he was wearing his mechanic uniform and I was immediately attracted. Every day when he comes home with his uniform on it reminds me of that and I fall all over again...

I thought he was way younger than he is, and was slightly annoyed that a little undergrad kid had been allowed to present at the conference. When he spoke I realized he was older than he looked, and also incredibly brilliant. It wasn't love at first sight, but for the first two years of knowing him, to me he was the super smart guy from middle-of-nowhere, Canada, lol.
