What type of salad?

A&G, on March 3, 2014 at 1:45 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

So the venue where we are having dinner has the option of a ceaser salad or a regular salad with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing.

Personally I would want to go with ceaser salad. My FH and I prefer it along with some of our family memebers. The venue organizer though, she strongly recommends I don't go with ceaser salad. She says that because of the garlic people become self conscious about their breath and don't talk as much or enjoy themselves as much. I'm not so sure about this.

I wanted to see what people though. Which salad would you prefer with dinner?

I'd prefer the balsamic vinaigrette but I think either would be fine. Our venue recommends we choose the one that is the most exotic and visually appealing (which is a Port pear salad) because he said people just pick at the salad anyway and people eat with their eyes first. We'll probably go with the caprese salad though because my family is Italian.

Honestly, it's rare for me to eat salad. But, I am going with caesar because it's predressed and idiots/drunks won't spill dressing on the table cloths. I don't even like caesar, but i feel like it's easier!

Regular - Caesar is just way too many (WW) points for me.

I personally don't like ceasar unless I get to do the dressing myself. most places put to much dressing with the salad and it just doesn't taste good.

I think most people would like a regular salad whereas some people may not like ceaser at all.

Honestly, while I agree with Amy that it's bullshit to say that having a Caesar salad will mean your guests won't enjoy themselves, I would prefer a regular salad with balsamic vinaigrette.

I wouldn't eat the ceaser salad but that's because I am a vegetarian and most ceaser dressing is made of anchovies but I think you should have what you want. I don't think ceaser salad will effect peoples wedding mood at all. That's so silly. The ceaser is probably just more expensive to make.

I would not touch a Caesar salad because I do not like anchovies. Bleh!

Personally FH and I prefer Caesar but I think regular will appeal to more people. However, no one in our families like balsamic vinegarette so I would see if there's an option for something like ranch, which almost anyone will eat.

I like Caesar salads... we are doing a spicy caesar. I honestly think the regular salad thing is totally overdone.

I would choose the Caesar over the regular depending on the lettuce they use. I don't like the salad mixes that look like I took leaves off the tree and made a salad.

I would vote Caesar! But I think a balsamic dressing would be lovely ... I can't see people not enjoying themselves just because of garlic... Lots of food has garlic in it!
