What to wear/take for dress shopping??

Alex, on December 27, 2016 at 3:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

I am going to Davids Bridal this Friday to try on dresses and get a feel for what style I am going for. What should I bring with me and what should I wear? I heard about wearing nude undergarments and a strapless bra. Any advice you have, I will take it!

I agree with nude undergarments and a strapless bra. If you plan on wearing your hair up for your wedding, maybe something to put your hair up with. I had my hair down and didn't have anything to put it up with to get an idea of the look I wanted

I recently said YES to my dress at David's I did not have any of that. I was asked if I wanted to use a corset strapless bra to use while trying on dresses, I agreed. When trying on dresses I had on a black gurtle and you did not see it through any of the dresses. My advice is wear a strapless bra and high waist gurtle if you need anything they have it. Other than that keep an open mind and enjoy the moment.

I wore and dress that was easy to get off and on and flip flops. I was trying on a dress every 5 minutes. Haha! I also wore spanks and a strapless bra.

Thank you guys! I will definitely be wearing full bottom undies and a strapless bra. I don't really want the consultant to see my bottom lol

Strapless bra and nude full-coverage underwear for sure. I already had some high-waisted, spanx-like panties, so I wore them and I'm glad I did because they helped the dresses come on and off more easily and smoothed things out. If you have heels similar in height to the ones you want to wear to your wedding I would bring those too so you can get a better picture of how you will look on the big day. I liked to see how dresses looked with my hair up vs. down, so I would also recommend packing hair ties.

My side job is as a Stylist at David's and I always appreciate it when brides are:

    1. Wearing underwear that you're comfortable being seen in - preferably nude as sometimes prints or multi-color will show through some dresses.

    2. Bring your own strapless if you want, we also have some for you to try but not necessarily in every size sometimes.

and I can't stress # 3 enough - freshly(ish) showered - your stylist is going to be very close to a lot of your parts and I've had some not so hygienic brides.

And water, you'll get thirsty and those fitting rooms can get warm.

When I went dress shopping, I pulled some gowns that I liked, but before I headed to the dressing room I asked my sister to pull two or three gowns that she knew I would never pick for myself. It was a great way to keep my options open even though I had a very specific look in mind.

They should give you a "what to wear" in your appointment confirmation email, but if they don't you can always ask. I wore full coverage undies and a strapless bra, both nude. I also shaved my legs (didn't wanna prick the gals helping me in and out lol) and brought a slip with me. At David's I used the corset bra they offered and at the other bridal salons I just had my bra. I used the shoes at the salon and didn't bring my own because I figured my shoes would depend on the dress I chose. I also brought extra hair ties (I get hot fast) and of course inspiration pics!

I had bare feet, full bum undies, and a regular bra. She had me pull the straps on my bra down but then just decided to take it off since I probably won't be wearing one the day of anyways!

Db dresses are cut to fit a height of 5'8" heels included, longer and shorter lengths have to be custom cut and take about 15 weeks I do believe to come in

Nude full coverage undies! Honestly I would up having to take off my bra but I'm not very modest so it didn't bother me:

Nude full coverage underwear! I wore a black thong my first time... I felt pretty awkward. Shoes and maybe a strapless bra. Most importantly in my opinion, a bottle of water!! I was so thirsty and started to feel dehydrated!

I brought a tote bag with me. In it i had mints to combat bad breath, a hair tie, bottled water, my own strapless long line bra, my own full torso spanx, and the blue heels I planned to wear for the wedding. I also brought a light robe with me to wear if I wanted to walk around and look at something in between dresses without getting completely re dressed. I shaved my legs and was freshly showered.

Definitely bring your wedding shoes, or a similar style you know you want to wear. Unless you're wearing flats, (which is what I'm doing) then it doesn't matter what shoes you wear. Just go bare foot in the fitting room Smiley smile also, it will help if you wear similar hair & make up style to get the right feel for the look Smiley smile

Full coverage undies and shave those armpits, especially if desiring a strapless and/or sleeveless dress. Went with a friend for her fitting once and was amazed by some of the other ladies in the shop.

I was told nude underpants, strapless bra and heels. First salon I went to, I had on my strapless bra and when the girl cinched up the fabric she bent my bra so that it was almost broken. I went without a bra for the rest of the dresses I tried on that day. Didn't wear my heels either. Second appt just wore my regular bra, nude panties and that was it.

I wore a nude thong and even though I wore a strapless bra, they had try on everything braless. However, I was in a locker room a lot growing up, so modesty is not a thing.
