What to wear when your husband is in a wedding??

Amanda, on January 29, 2019 at 9:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17
My husband is the best man in his friends wedding in September, I was supposed to the maid of honor but after the bride became a bit of a bridezilla things have since changed so I will unfortunately be attending as a guest only.. His suit is navy blue ( I'm not sure what the bridesmaids are wearing) should I match him or wear something completely different? Also any advice on a style of dress would also be really helpful. I'm not exactly looking forward to this occasion but my husband wants me to go so I'm going to suck it up and at least try to look my best lol thanks guys!

I would go with a long dress in any color but white or the color of the bridesmaids. That should be fine

Given the unusual circumstances, I'd make a point of looking absolutely FABULOUS in any color besides white or the BM's dress color.... Smiley winking

I would just purchase a long dress. I always try to match fiancé somehow but without matching with the bridesmaids. You can try to find out the color of the bridesmaid but navy suit is an easy color to match.

Yaaasssss. Words right out of my mouth. I wouldn’t even stress the color that much, other than obviously not white lol 😂

You need to go out and buy something incredible I wouldn't match any of the wedding colors, red draws a lot of attention Smiley winking

If he’s wearing a navy suit, it’s not black tie. He’d be in a tux if it was - the bride and groom clearly don’t know what black tie actually entails. I’d go for a fabulous cocktail dress personally.

Yaaaasss! Look absolutely stunning. I did this recently when I was blown off after being asked to be a bridesmaid. I think it was because I have tattoos and piercings. Even tho we had been friends for YEARS before. Ah well, I showed up looking absolutely smashing. And felt better for it.

Let's see I've been in your shoes twice. Same guy getting married. Fi was his best man. We were separated in our seating arrangements twice.

Make sure your DH and you get to sit together during the reception. I am both boggled and disgusted with the way brides and grooms separate people from their significant others just to have their "perfect" little head table.

This sounds like a job for the "little black dress" or a nice long black dress. Accessorized a little more heavily with jewelry, maybe even a rinestone sash with elegant heels (contrasting or matching).

Get your hair done professionally before you go. I'm serious. You want your look impeccable! Polished. That's what I did both times. I had bridesmaids asking me who did my hair. Also, if you want to go the complimentary route, go with violet instead of navy but really if you're not part of the crew, you shouldn't be wearing the uniform. You want to look so good, that the bride will take one look at you and wonder "what the f*** was I thinking not having her in the wedding?"

You could, because you are the date of the best man, find out what flowers his boutonniere is going to have and get a corsage to match. Think of it as a little kiss off. But don't pin it on your gown(that's too overt), wear it on your wrist instead. If I have to go through another farce like what you're describing, that's what I'll be doing.

All of this! No white or bridesmaids color. A deep scarlet dress and some elegant hair jewelry could look great.

My fiance was in his uncle's wedding a little over 3 years ago and I didn't even think to match him. I just wore whatever I wanted to wear.

I would just wear what you would normally wear to a wedding as a guest. So it would depend on if the wedding is casual, semi formal or formal. But I don't think you need to match him.

Thank you!!! My husband has been in 4 weddings that I have not been in, and is going to be in a fifth in the spring. We will have 6 children at that point- one being 3 weeks old. They are having all children of guests invited but no children’s table, babysitters or other parental support and keeping all 32 bridesmaids and groomsmen sitting at the head table with them. You’re the first person on the internet that I’ve seen express these feelings about splitting up married partners and I was starting to think I was a crazy person for feeling this way.

I went to one where my fiancé was a groomsmen. They had to wear fancy tuxedos and even though I wasn’t in the bridal party I super dressed up more than other guests but he was in a fancy tuxedo so even though I wasn’t in the bridal party I felt I should at least match his level of dressing up you know? What to wear when your husband is in a wedding?? 2
