What to Wear to Reception after Eloping

Lilly, on November 20, 2020 at 9:07 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
We eloped in Savannah Georgia on the 7th and are having a reception to celebrate with family. I want to wear the dress again but it got so dirty since we were outdoors at our wedding and it would need to be hemmed. We are only a week away Sunday from the reception so I don’t know what I should do.

Try looking on Amazon! They have some really pretty dresses/clothes and obviously we all know their shipping is fast.

Is there a chance that you could get it dry cleaned maybe? Or a seamstress that could hem it in time?

If not, I know BHLDN and LuLu's, or Amazon have really cute outfits that you could wear!

I would check with a seamstress to see if they can hem and clean it real quick this week! Otherwise, check for dresses on Amazon, Lulu's, department stores, Poshmark, etc.

Wear whatever you feel beautiful in! Im not gonna wear a traditional wedding gown on my big day.

If it were me, I would be wearing that thing dirty! As much money as we spent on our dresses, I figure we should take as many opportunities to wear them as possible! Just think of the dirt as bringing back a little momento from your elopement to your reception LOL Everyone knows that you eloped, and I’m sure no one would care if your dress had some dirt on it. If you called around and expressed the urgency though, I am betting you could have it professionally cleaned within the week.

If you want to wear it, call cleaner before you go today, you can have it by Tues, unless you think possibly not cleanable. If you are willing to shell out 2-300 dollars and wear in new years too, most salons have an evening gown and mother of the bride section. You can do pretty well with off the rack. Some they stock, and some people have altered, hemmed, in the shop and never picked up when they break up. I was gown shopping with Hubby's niece, saw this, it is now for NYE. I got in blue, but several on the rack were in oyster, similarly nice in silver. We are not going far, but people are dressing for it!What to Wear to Reception after Eloping 1
Mother of the bride sections once were very dowdy, now only half are.

Interesting! We're getting married in Savannah too(Forsyth Park). Where did you have yours at? I'm wearing my dress to the reception/dinner and yes plus I paid all that money, so I'll definitely be wearing it all night lol

I definitely think you can get it cleaned and hemmed in a week --- and some dry cleaners have alterations on site. But take it in ASAP.

Agree with this. You could get an inexpensive dress from Lulu's or some other online retailer, but I'm sure everyone would love to see your actual wedding dress, dirty or not. If your reception had happened right after your ceremony, it probably would have been somewhat dirty by then anyway. As long as it doesn't have any dark brown mud stains on the rear that look like skid marks, I wouldn't worry about some dirt. It will add character to your dress and authenticity to your reception day.
