What to wear for our Save The Date Pictures?

Kristin, on December 22, 2013 at 6:12 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

Hi ladies! I need some suggestions on outfits to wear for my save the date pictures. It's driving me crazy! I've been searching the internet for ideas, but I'm not sure what kind of outfit I should put together. A dress? A skirt? Jeans? What shoes?! We have our pictures scheduled in May & I know it's a bit early, but I just want to get it out of the way. Any suggestions would be great! I live in NJ and the average weather in May is 70 degrees. Smiley smile Thanks!!!

I would do dressy for part of it and casual for the other. If you are self conscious about tummy areas, blazers are an amazing way to dress up jeans, hide that, and look awesome!

Never mind. Just saw your avatar, sure you don't need any "camouflaging"

I'd say just dress comfortably and for the weather. I just took mine in november and was covered up in a heavy coat and a scarf and they turned out great! Maybe make sure you and your FH are wearing things that won't clash but you don't have to totally match Smiley smile

Do 2 outfits if you can... 1 dressy and 1 more casual. Then you can pick the best look for the STD look you are going for! I agree with @Alison too... dress for the weather... it looks more natural too

I did two outfits. Both were somewhat casual. I didn't want to look too dressy because our wedding isn't a super fancy wedding... and dressing up just isn't us.

ETA: We dressed for the weather... we had our photos taken at the beginning of October and they look super natural... it was about 55 degrees out. You can't see my boots with my jeans, but I had on leather, square toe boots.

Dress how you dress day to day. You want to look like you! Do you wear maxi dresses and flip flops everyday in the summer? If so, then find a cute new dress and dressy sandal for your photos!

I wanted us to look like us, but a bit more polished. =)

We did two outfits. One casual (jeans and cute tops, and shirt for him) and one dressy (me in a black flowy dress, and him in button up shirt). Also, we used a prop to include our date. Our dog tagged along for the casual pictures Smiley smile

I'm a NJ bride too! You are doing it nice and early and I haven't even booked our photographer yet! Lol I plan on booking soon and will probably do save the dates around May as well. But yes I agree with the other brides. Dress for the weather and a change of outfit one casual one dressy would be perfect.

Something that is flattering and not too tight or short (I'm case photographer has you sitting). Also keep the patterns to a minimum so the focus is on you and your backgrounds.

Love your chalkboard sign!! I wish I made something... I assumed my photographer had something for us and it didn't occur to me to ask. We took our pictures with snow outside (it was a couple weeks ago with 12 degrees as a high!) so we wore clothes that contrasted that... Here's a sneak peak.

If you can do multiple outfit changes go for a really dressy look and then a casual look. FH and I had two different sessions (one with a friend before we booked a photographer, and one with our photographer). We decided to do a casual look for both and we wanted to match. The first session we wore white button down shirts and dark blue jeans, the second session we wore black shirts and dark blue jeans.

I think you could wear something that correlates to your wedding colors/theme but also like the other posters stated, dress for the weather. FH and I wore red and black but I did wear a zebra top which is our theme for the wedding. We also had a prop (a football since FH does that professionally) to use. I think the chalkboard is really cute. Whatever props you have will work.
