What to Serve!!

Brianna, on January 5, 2020 at 8:15 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 10
Sooooooooo.... Our wedding is in 54 days. We literally have EVERYTHING ready except for food for the guest!! Our wedding is scheduled from 2:30-7 so I was thinking just some finger foods but that got expensive fast.. What are some ideas for good diy food that won’t break our budget?

Just kidding. I world say do some players from sam's club like cheese and crackers, veggie tray, fruit tray, sliders, croissants, meat & cheese, build your own sandwich, crock pot meatballs, chicken tenders, chips, etc...

How many people? Do you have someone willing to help prepare and serve food? That is in the dinner time window so people will be hungry. Finger food probably wouldn't be enough. You run the risk of people leaving early or being grouchy and hungry.

I agree. It is during dinner time so I would personally have something with more substance since you are hosting. Crockpots can be good for larger crowds and keep things warm!

Shouldn’t food have been one of the first things you planned?

I think you need to provide a full meal given the time of your event. If you only want to provide light refreshments I think you need to wrap things up by 4pm. Properly hosting your guests until 7pm may be more expensive than you're prepared for.
If you shorten it to 2:30 - 4pm you could have a reception with just cake and punch or cheese and crackers and veggie and dip platters.

    Totally agree with this.

For a full meal, contact Italian, Mexican & BBQ restaurants who likely cater for $10-$20 per person. If you have a lot of guests (50+), make sure you have the restaurant provide staff for serving food or lines can be long and guests who load up won’t leave other guests with any food.

I'm thinking about doing spaghetti. It's easy to make, and it's pretty quick. You can get the sauce ready ahead of time (I make my own) and I can feed my 60 guests a good sized meal for maybe $200-$300 after adding sides and desserts.
