What to say when my brothers give me away...

My father passed away last year and so my brothers will be walking me down the aisle. Traditionally, the officiant will ask who is giving the bride away/offering this woman in marriage, etc. In this case, does the officiant still ask that question and how should it be phrased? How do my brothers respond? My mother is still alive and will be at the wedding as well. Should she be the one to respond? I am looking for ideas and suggestions. Thank you in advance!

They can ask, "Does the family of ____ give their love and support to this union?" in which your brothers can reply "We do." or "Yes"
or something to that effect. I am sure the officiant has an great alternative

We omitted that line altogether from our ceremony. My dad walked me down the aisle, shook H's hand, hugged me, and took his seat. You could do something like that. Or if you do really want the question asked, your brothers could respond "her family does" when the officiant asks who gives you away.

Hey Jen. If the officiant asks "who gives this woman away...?" Then your brothers can respond with something like "our family does," or "we and our parents do," depending on if you wanted to include both mom and dad in this portion of the ceremony. :-)
