What to include in Invite

Renay, on October 21, 2019 at 3:15 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 5
I am DIYing my invites. I found a really awesome website (Greetings Island) that has templates to design from, and customize, and plan on printing them through PrintRunner (13pt matte recycled cardstock, color prints, 5x7 cards dual sided for 48 cents a piece!). I have the front made, and the back I don't know what all to put.I am not doing a hotel block because almost all of our guests are local. I am doing all online RSVPs so I do want to put the information for how to do that, and the registry information. Both of those will be done through our Zola website so I will put the URL on there. Is there anything else I should list? I thought about Menu but that hasn't been finalized and will be posted on the website.
I feel like I am forgetting something.

I would just include a “please rsvp by x date at (wedding website)”. Registry information can go on your website but doesn’t belong on your invitation.

I've never seen information on the back of an invitation. If you do decide to put something on the back, I wouldn't make it anything important because it could easily be missed. The invitation should consist of your names, the date, time, and venue. The wedding website is a great addition. I'm not sure if you meant that you were listing your registry on the invitations or on your website, however, it shouldn't be mentioned on the invitation.

I wouldn’t put anything important on the back (take it from someone who had a 2-sided rsvp. The front specifically instructed guests to see other side — the back had a space for allergies/dietary needs and a question asking of guests would like to utilize the shuttle— and I’d estimate only 50% of our guests actually saw the back!). If I did it again I’d just do something cutesy like our initials and a heart or something on the back, and keep all the important info right on the front.

Which is to say, if you’re not doing an rsvp card, at the bottom of the front of the invite I’d have a “please rsvp by [DATE] by visiting [URL]”

Please RSVP by (date) at www.wedding.com.

For more information about our wedding, please visit www.wedding.com. Then on your website you can suggest a few hotels for guests even if they aren't blocked. I don't think the menu is necessary. If directions are needed (not easy to find with google maps), you could include that. If there are any welcome events or next day brunches, you could include that.
