What to do with Gifts Shipped to Home Before Bridal Shower?

My bridal shower is next monthand we registered at Bed Bath and Beyond. Today we received a package from BBB, so apparently someone ordered something off our registry and had it shipped to us. Are we supposed to bring the unwrapped gift to the shower or open it now? It’s in a brown packing box, I don’t know if it’s gift wrapped inside the box because we haven’t opened it yet. Or do we open it now but bring it to the shower so people can see what we got? If I’m supposed to open it now, do we send a thank you note now or after the shower (my shower isn’t until near the end of next month)?

    Open now and send a thank you right away.

    Open it now and send a thank you note asap. It lets the sender know that it has arrived safely.

    Chances are they are unable to attend the shower but wanted to send a gift.

    If they attend the shower, you can take a minute to mention the gift and thank them before you do your general thank you at the end of the shower.

    Okay, thanks WED18 and Muriel! I actually think that everyone can attend my shower (we didn’t invite too many people), so I was surprised to receive a gift in the mail!

    Open it now. I actually made a list of things people who were attending the shower sent me ahead of time (I had a good amount of people come from OOT) and read them off and thanked them at the shower, in addition to sending them a thank you note of course.
