What to do with dirty dishes?

Toni, on April 20, 2019 at 5:07 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
So I’m planning on renting plates, cups, wine glasses and silverware from an event rental company but my question is what do I do with the plates and silverware after people are done eating? Im having a buffet style dinner without servers so I don’t have anybody to bus tables and get the dirty dishes out of the way. Should I just opt to get plastic dishes and silverware so people can just throw them away when they’re done? I’m worried it’ll look “cheap” to do plastic though.. thoughts? What would you do?
thank you!

You'll have to hire someone to do your clean up, if the venue doesn't offer this service. You can't even with plastic expect your guests to throw out their own plates etc.

Usually your caterer offers some kind of cleaning service as well, if not I would call a local cleaner and see if they would do it and what they'd charge.

I’m going to discuss with my caterer someone to come bus the tables and serve my guests, if they are unable I’ll look into hiring someone else to do it. I appreciate your help! 😊

You could hire some college students to do it if your caterer can't do it or can't recommend anybody. But there is some really nice plastic plates and cups. Try smarty had a party

My caterer took care of all of this.
She ordered the rentals, her staff bussed the tables, she made sure everything was packed up the way it needed to be when the night was over, and scheduled the pickup.
It was important to us that the rentals be taken care of because we had the same thoughts, “what do we do with all these dirty plates?!”

Your caterer should be able to accommodate this, but it will be for an extra fee! Usually serving and washing dishes are two different fees. So like they will serve and remove plates, but actually “washing” them will be extra from that as well. You should ask the rental company if they need to be given back washed or not. Ours said they do not need to be and if they will charge a fee or not for that. It is important to ask before you add on that fee because you do not want to pay twice if the rental company will end up washing them anyway and they do not require it.

Hire either a clean up/busser crew through the catering or you will need plastic throw away. My friend had just a dining hall that had a kitchen. She hired all the necessary people to bring out the food, take away the plates, and wash everything in the kitchen.
