What to do to make dress fit better

Hi I got my dress and I’m trying to figure out affordable ways to not step on my dress all day. No matter how tall of heels I wear, there’s still about 1/2 inch of fabric that I step on occasionally. Hi I got my dress and I’m trying to figure out affordable ways to not step on my dress all day. No matter how tall of heels I wear, there’s still about 1/2 inch of fabric that I step on occasionally. My dress is poofy at the bottom so could I wear a hoop skirt as a way to push the fabric away from my feet? Is there a special way to walk to kinda “kick” the fabric away from my feet? I’m open to any suggestions! By the way, the bottom isn’t beaded at all.

This summer I was a bridesmaid and I didn't get my dress hemmed and it drove me crazy having to hold onto the dress lol but I can't afford expensive alterations

Thank you for the advice! Would you recommend going into stores and asking directly or is calling sufficient?

I didn't think about hem tape, thanks for the suggestion! I can sew but I didn't think that would be very recommended by the forum. I don't mind the idea of a hoop skirt but at the same time I'm not sure how much I want to have extra poofiness lol. What are the quotes you're getting for the bustle? I have to do that too but my FMIL is confident we can do it ourselves

First I put the dress on and measure how much overhang of dress I had. This part is easier with help. Then I just laid the dress flat out on a clean space on the floor. I folded the lace back under the slip where I wanted it to go making sure it was even across. Then I carefully placed the tape where I wanted it. The trickiest part was pulling the the top backing off without messing up the alignment, but overall the whole process took no more than 10minutes.

    Calling is fine.
And you want to find someone who doesn’t work at a store. Google won’t tell you that information though. So you’ll have to talk to them.
People who work in a store or shop have more overhead costs included in their prices which cause their prices to rise. Good luck in your search.
