What to do if it has been 6+ months after the wedding and cannot get in touch with the photographers?

Kristina, on June 17, 2018 at 2:06 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

I could really use some advice and support. My husband and I got married on October 8th 2017 out in California. We received wedding photo previews about 3 days after our wedding (approximately 4-5 photos). Our original contract is to receive a certain number of sized prints in addition to a personalized wood photo USB (came with an additional charge). The USB was supposed to be given to us 6 weeks after the wedding date. We received an USB (just a regular computer USB) in December that year so we can go through the photos and get the prints. We finally received our prints in March of 2018 and are still waiting on the personalized USB. Now, we cannot get in touch with either photographer and we are supposed to be moving overseas soon. We have called and texted the photographer who did our wedding and have tried to be polite and as pleasant as we can be. To no prevail. I even resorted to going on their Facebook page, where I can see they have been taking care of photos from other weddings now (June is a busy wedding month as I have been told), and have been trying to message them and have not heard back. How long should I wait before I keep contacting them? I used to wait the month in between, then weeks, now it is looking like no more than 3 days before I am sending out yet another message. Am I being ridiculous? Did they find a loophole in the contract that, since I took a USB (not the exact one we were supposed to get as per agreement from our contract) and received my prints, they are now not liable to give me the product I originally paid for? Should I have tried email instead? I would really appreciate the help and advice. Thank you!

Are you saying that you have a usb, it just isn’t the one listed in the contract?

Yes, I received a usb but not the same one that I was supposed to get in my contract. From what the photographer told me it was supposed to be one for my husband and I to use in order to figure out which photos we wanted printed.

So do you think you are supposed to get additional pictures, or the same pictures, but on a wood USB stick? If it’s the latter, I’d say your time is valuable, don’t waste it, and move on. Leave a bad review if you’d like.

If you are supposed to get additional pictures, call daily. Leave messages. Leave public Facebook posts so other people can see they are not responsive, They’ll get in touch just so you stop bothering them.

So you have all of your photos and all the prints you paid for? I would let this go. You are bugging them over a piece of wood - if I have this all straight?? I know I know it's in the contract but at this point I would just be happy I have my photos and would move on and prep for the big move.

Also - leave a review on yelp/wedding wire/the knot. That may get them going, but only do this if you have every photo.

Did you put extra for it?

I'd ask for a refund of the price for the wood usb when contacting them at this point and not trying to get the item you paid for. How much extra was this usb?

I would email one time asking to correct the problem sending the right one or you want a refund of the cost you paid for the wooden one. Then make sure to dock one star off at their review stating why. It stinks but not the end of the world. If you love all your photos I’d dock a star off the review.

If it’s just the wood USB, you can easily order one yourself and transfer the images. They weee probably just trying to get them it quickly before the holidays. But, you paid extra for it, so I’d perhaps tell them to refund you the cost, (_$25??), or you’ll write a bad review and be done with it.

Just like everyone said, if you have all your pictures and all you're missing is your wooden USB, I would just try one more time to contact them and ask them to just refund you the amount for the USB. If not, just leave a review cautioning other people of how they do business. To me, it doesn't matter if it's one little thing, if it's in the contract and I don't receive it, I'll tell you, and if they conducted business like they are with you, just ignoring you, I'd leave a bad review because it's not fair. (Obviously not one star since they did give you your photos and hopefully they turned out good). The least they could've done was respond to you, even if it is wedding season, I'm sure you've contacted them prior to that.

We finally received our USB today so I can finally be comfortable to leave an honest review. To be honest I was not super thrilled with the photos. Most of the photos were of the groom (he was in uniform so I guess that makes for much better photos) and I barely had pictures with my own family. It’s all mostly of him and I know he didn’t request that because I was the one who asked for pictures of both sides of the family plus immediate family. I try not to look at recent photos they have done of the couples there now but I can tell you the previews they have posted on social media makes it look like they didn’t really try and took our money.

There’s a bit more to the story overall but I guess it did seem like I’m bugging out over a simple piece of wood haha. We finally did get the USB as of today though!

I would leave a completely honest review then. I feel like if they didn't even live up to what they showed were the expectations then they don't deserve to get a good review from you. I understand they are a business and time is crazy for them but they should've at least explained the situation so that you knew what was going on. Not only that, but you aren't very happy with your pictures. I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience, I hope everything works out for you!
