What to do if bridesmaids don’t think wedding color is flattering on them?

I chose the colors blush and gold for my wedding because I wanted something romantic and elegant and those colors seemed perfect for me. I was planning to have the girls wear blush dresses and went shopping with my bridesmaids and not everyone was too thrilled about the color saying it washes them out. We went to David’s bridal and the shade of blush I want was only available in the vera wang collection by the girls didn’t like the styles of the dresses. The petal pink shade in the David’s bridal collection was lighter than I want and actually made some of the styles they liked in other colors look cheap! My bridesmaids kept seeing dresses in other shades like purple and blue and saying they liked it better. My mom told me I should change the colors. What should I do? I haven’t really bought anything in my color scheme yet but have scheduled to pick out linens, etc next week. Has anyone found designers that have nice shades of blush that are rosier and less pale pink? Do you think there is another shade for dresses that could still fit my color scheme and theme of “romantic”? Maybe champagne or light gray? Or should I just give in and change my color scheme and vision for my wedding completely?

You could go to different place depending on where you're located but I don't think you should have to change the colors you want just because they don't like them. Where are you located?

At the end of the day it's your decision but you should definitely take your BM's opinions into account

My friend did grey and golden yellow and white as her colors. I looked so awful in yellow and she wanted golden yellow dresses so I had to tell her that I wasn't comfortable in it. I did help her find the other dresses though and we did yellow/white chevron shawls and yellow flowers and it turned out great. So yes I think you should be considerate. They have to buy the dress afterall!

I feel their pain. I look horrible in pale, pale pinks, like blush. I look great, though, in rosy shades. Can you do a range of shades?

I agree with most PPs, is there another color or shade you would like? You can find a lot of other colors to compliment blush and gold and you don’t have to limit yourself to 2 colors, we chose black and gold with blush/pink as our accent color. I think even a lilac or maybe an ice blue could fit with your colors. Definitely don’t let go of your vision and color scheme for your girls, but you can maybe broaden it to include a better option. Blush did not look good on my girls so we ended up choosing black with a Lacey top and nude underneath.

You need to pick the color YOU want!!!! Yes in a perfect world everyone could wear the dress, color, etc they wanted and the pictures and overall feeling would be perfect. Well we don't live in a perfect world. You picked the color palette that you and your other half wants and that's it. Try to find some little bridal shops around you and see if they have any other dresses in your color. I know that the other designers offer different fabrics and colors different from Davids and perhaps one of them would fit the them and flatter the girls better. In the end though I do not think you should change your colors unless thats something you wish to do.

I sympathize as blush clothing makes my skin look really sallow, but I would never complain to a friend about that if I were in their BP, I'd just buy it and bear with it for a day.

Ultimately your decision but what about going just a bit darker with their dresses such as rose? It will still look lovely with your color scheme and maybe they'll feel more comfortable in it.

I think they should respect your color choice for your wedding.

Without sounding like a bridezilla...it's YOUR day. I have red hair. My sister made me wear a red ball gown, with red flowers in my hair, red nail polish, red shoes, and we all had to wear the same shade of red lipstick! I looked like the walking talking Kool-aid man. But it was her wedding.

If you want to be more accondating champagne looks good on a variety of skin tones and they could carry blush flowers to balance it out.

Please do not change your colors. My colors are blush and gold also. I found the perfect dress at Adrianna Papell that my girls liked. She has the perfect blush color (in person it is not as pink) and many styles too choose from. I didn't think my girls looked washed out at all but If your BM's are afraid of looking washed out tell them to tan or use bronzer.

What Etsy shop did you buy your girls dresses from? I’m thinking of going the sequin route after all but want to make sure I choose a good seller.

Thanks for the info! Did the dresses come already? Would you be able to post a picture? I’m really needing to pick my girl’s dresses. This has been harder than finding my own dress haha

The lighting on these pictures aren't great lol but here are pics of 2 of my bridesmaids in their dresses. We ended up going with the dark gold sequin color. Both of them plan on having the dresses taken in a little bit, but they fit pretty well considering the location of the shop.
