What to do for a something borrowed

M, on June 30, 2019 at 8:33 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7
My fiance and I are eloping out of state. We are having a traditional elopment, just the two or us and no one knows we are getting married. The two of us though are both dressing up, getting flowers, hiring a photographer, having a nice romantic meal together after etc. Our families and friends are important to us and when to incorporate them into our wedding without them knowing. I was thinking of some how doing a something borrowed from the most important members. I was thinking borrowing random buttons from parents, siblings, friends etc. and sewing them to a sash tied around my wedding bouquet. and returning the buttons to them with our wedding announcement and a picture of us on our wedding day with the sash in the picture. Open to ideas. Can anyone brainstorm with me?

I like your idea. But how do you go about needing to borrow a button without someone really questioning that...hum.. maybe you could borrow a loved ones shoes and wear them or borrow a hair accessory. Our you could just go with your original idea bc it sounds like you could incorporate more ppl that way. 😁

Such a cute idea! I love it and if you can pull it off 💯 go for it!

What are your reasons for eloping? Is there any reason you can't have everyone there? Is it due to budget? Do you want to share the ceremony with others? If you're still in the early stages of planning maybe you can figure out a way to have those most special to you there!

I've been previously married. We had a wedding which cost $16,000 which in my small town is a lot for a wedding. I didn't really want a wedding to begin with then I thought it was more romantic to have it be intimate between my husband and I. Needless to say that marriage ended (thankfully). This time I really want to have that intimate ceremony and luckily my fiance feels the same way this way around. This time we are spending about $9,000 but that's because we are flying out of state, staying of vacation for the week and still hiring photographers and buying wedding a dress and a tux.

Hey there!! I think your elopement sounds so beautiful!! Where are you planning on traveling to get married? Will this trip also be your honeymoon?

You button idea sounds like a great way to keep those important to you close on your wedding day. How do you plan to go about borrowing buttons from everyone without them getting suspicious?

I'm incorporating my late grandmother's rosary in my bouquet. We're getting married on what would be my grandparents' 73rd wedding anniversary so I thought it would be nice to keep her close by.

I'm traveling to New Orleans. I'm from Wisconsin. We will be using the elopment as a honeymoon since it will only be the twonof us. I'm an arty/creative person I think I'll just tell everyone I'm doing a family portrait involving everyone's buttons to hang in my sewing room... or something similar.

Oh, New Orleans is so amazing! Have you been before?

That's a great way to get buttons off of everyone! I also love the idea of making a family portrait out of buttons, now that you mention it!! 😂
