What to do about a bad tasting?

Chris, on March 3, 2018 at 5:44 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

Looking for some advice here. We just had the tasting with our venue's on-site required caterer and the food was pretty bad. We are a little less than six months out from our wedding, does anyone have advice with how to handle this?

Right now our plan is to email our coordinator (also provided by the venue) and let them know we were disappointed to see what they think we can do to try to resolve this.

Thanks in advance for any tips!

Did you sign a contract before you did the tasting? I'd be concerned because you are locked in now even if you hate the food.

    What was bad about it?

Is there a significant cost to bring in your own caterer? Is there a different head chef to try? Did you already sign the contract?

Asked My FH who is an Executive Chef at a lodge that does weddings. He says to definitely let the venue people know it was terrible and ask them set up a decoy meeting where both you and someone from the venue attends, so they can see how bad it is. He said to make sure that the caterer doesn't know it's a redo for you guys because they will definitely make it better (which it probably won't be for your wedding). Also really check into the venue - he said if the required caterer is bad, what's the quality of the operations team of the venue and their level of detailed focus? Good luck!!
