What to call the "groomsmen"

Megan&Jess, on August 20, 2016 at 4:26 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

So while planning and talking about my wedding it feels weird to keep saying "groomsmen" since I am marrying a woman, there is no groom. I feel like it's validating the fact that so many people say there has to be a groom, they even ask if FW is the man in the relationship and playing the role of groom at the wedding. So calling them groomsmen would be entertaining the silly things people have said. I haven't asked yet because it's too early, but when I do ask men to be in my wedding party I don't know how to word it! What do you guys think?

I think simply using the term "bridal party" would cover it quite well for both sides Smiley smile

When you approach whomever, male or female, just ask them if they'd like to be an Honor Attendant at your wedding. Then, just refer to them as such. After all, whether those dressed up, close friends/family members are wearing gowns, dresses, tuxes, or suits, they are there, on both sides of the aisle, because they have honored you as a couple, and now, you have the opportunity to honor them in public.

I call my attendants brideswomen because I hate way bridesmaids sounds (enter feminist rant about bridesMAIDS vs groomsMEN). We call our group of attendants on both sides our wedding party, because they are standing up for both of us, not just the bride.

It would be bridesmen and bridesmaids right?

Or pick super hero names and call each name after your superhero. Arrowmen and Flashwomen....humm what sounds bad.....

Thank you for all of your input! After reading your suggestions, I like the idea of calling them the bridesmen and part of the bridal party.
