What to call my 8 month old "Flower Girl"?!

Shanice, on August 19, 2014 at 12:30 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

So I am having a rustic backyard wedding. I am not having a flower girl or ring bearer during my ceremony, instead I will have my 8 month old daughter pushed down the aisle in a decorated stroller with a sign that says "Daddy Here Comes Mommy!". She will be pushed by my cousin who is in her 20's. I need unique names for my daughter and her "pusher" for the bridal party announcement during the reception. My cousin came up with the name "baby bearer" for herself, but I don't know if I'm sold on it yet. Should I call my daughter the "flower girl" even though she won't have any flowers? Your ideas are much appreciated!!

Just announce her as your daughter and the cousin could be a bridesmaid if you want her announced as something specific, or her name would be what I would recommend . You don't need a cutesy name for things.

Edited: "baby bearer" is more reminiscent of a surrogate than wedding party title. And for some reason makes me uncomfortable

I like the baby bearer idea, but then again I've made up so many names for the participants of my wedding party lol. What about "flower baby?"

Not sure what you would call her, but would not recommend 'baby bearer' because that makes her sound like the baby's mother lol

She can definitely still be a flower girl without the flowers.

Agreed, baby bearer makes it sound like she carried your baby. Lol.

I would just call her your flower girl and your cousin an honorary bridesmaid.

Flower girl and decorate the stroller with a lot of flowers. I'd call the cousin a Jr Bridesmaid.

Although if the cousin is in her 20s, it would be really strange to call her a Jr BM...maybe an honor attendant?

Oh she is 20? For some reason I thought it said 12. I'd go with honor attendant.

I like flower baby or flower child. Have her holding a kissing ball or something.

Hey, I saw a 'flower grandma' at a wedding this past spring...yes, it was strange, but it did happen. Maybe the cousin could carry the baby and they could hold the sign 'together'?

I'd call her a flower girl. hang a flower ball off the stroller or can the person pushing her toss some flowers?
