What time for a lunch reception?

caiters91, on July 17, 2013 at 3:38 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

Hey everyone,

I posted a similar question a few months ago about what time to have a light lunch reception, but 1,000 (okay maybe that's an exaggeration) mind changes later we have decided to have pasta at the reception, but still want a day time wedding with a lunch reception. I'd like to have the wedding at noon or one and then have the reception immediately following. There will be no cocktail hour and the ceremony will last about 45 minutes and the reception venue is a five minute drive from the church. Personally, I wouldn't mind eating lunch at 2 in the afternoon on a Saturday. I just don't know if that is too late for most people. Any tips on when to have the ceremony and reception? Thanks in advice!

    Ceremony: 11AM

    Reception: 12PM

Having the reception right at noon means your guests will be getting ready at 11. I guess they can have brunch or something at 10-10:30, but it is still an odd timing of having a wedding right smack dab in lunch time. Maybe it will be like dinner and a movie (whip out snacks in the middle of your vows)

Even if you did Ceremony Noon and Reception 1 wouldn't be so bad

It'll give time for people to have a nice hearty breakfast/brunch
