What the heck do i do about invitations?

Nicole, on April 24, 2020 at 11:44 AM Posted in Planning 0 6
So I purchased invitations, finally approved the proof a few weeks ago for our June 28th wedding and then Illinois announced the extension and our venue finally came out and basically told us we were probably getting postponed.

We have people that already booked flights, etc and I don’t know if I can afford another $400+ on postage and change the date cards. Would it be tacky to send invites now with a little note inside with updates and asking people to RSVP by new date with response card? Our wedding is going to be in late November if it gets postponed and we had some people not get Save The Dates, so we want to send invites out anyhow. I am just not sure what to do?

Not tacky at all! Everyone knows these are uncertain times! Just add a little note in there and say this is our new date. The old date is a part of your journey- it’s kind of a keepsake for guests. Everyone will understand Smiley smile

Contact the place where you got the invitations, a lot of places will reprint them for free or very discounted

I was thinking that, but would people lose them or forget? If I sent them now, it’s basically 7 or 8 months before the postponed wedding date

You could also see if they will reprint for free? I feel like a bunch of places are offering that too. Worth looking into. And do you have a wedding website? Could you tell guest the new date on there? And say you will be sending the invites out in September? And I would make a little joke and say you aren’t changing the date on the invites to have a keepsake for your original date or something like that. If you can contact everyone and let everyone know the new date then you don’t have to send them out right away. Everyone will be understanding!

Not tacky at all! At first I was going to suggest sending out postcards with the updated date but then realized that it’s an extra cost & heaven forbid, what if the date changes again? My wedding is in August & I’m going to put a little card or note in my invitations that says “please check our wedding website for any updates” or something like that. I hope this helps a little. Hang in there! 😊

It’s not tacky at all!! I wanted to do this also I was just nervous certain people would get confused so unfortunately I spent extra and made change the dates but you gotta do what’s best for your budget I’m so sad about the waste of all the invitations I have it’s heartbreaking for sure
