What size bed?

Elizabeth, on May 9, 2021 at 11:39 AM Posted in Married Life 1 49

My FH and I are moving in together after the wedding and are looking to buy a bed now. We both currently sleep in twin beds. We probably don't have room for a king at the moment, but we are looking for a bigger place. We were between a queen and a full. Except we also found out one of our couple friends shares a twin, so I guess that's possible? I think I would really be overcrowding FH in a twin haha.

What size bed do you use/would you recommend?

I would definitely get a Queen if you can’t fit a King. Full size beds are cozy with two people.

Get the biggest bed possible. If the space can fit a queen, go with that. Going from separate beds to sharing every night is a big adjustment, the more room you have the better!

Minimally a queen, but take measurements and see if you can't fit a king -- you won't be sorry. Regular kings (about the dimensions of two twin mattresses) are slightly wider and shorter than a CA king which is longer and a bit more narrow. No matter how much you love each other, having enough room to sleep comfortably is critical to your health and well-being. Especially if you're planning to move soon, I'd go as big as possible -- even if it means you skip nightstands, etc. in your current smaller space.

My DH and I have a full, the same one he had in college. It works, but it's kind of small. If you can fit a queen, definitely go for that!

We have a king size but we slept on a full size at the future inlaws house and it was horrible. I say go for the queen.

If you are going to buy a new bed, go bigger than a twin!
Queen at least, but a king is awesome!

FH and I spent the summer at a hunting lodge on a full size bed, we cuddled the entire night because there wasn’t a ton of room. Upgraded to a queen and we cuddle but it’s much less. Any time we go to a hotel and have a king we don’t even touch 🤣 take what you want from that, we won’t get a king because we like cuddling and we flop around too much in a big bed!

We use a queen it's just enough room for us without taking up to much space. I have a twin that we don't use and it is to crowded with the 2 of use and just an uncomfortable sleep. I'd recommend at least a queen.

My fiancé and I shared a twin for months early in our relationship. We made it work, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend it if you have room for bigger. We have a queen now and I think it’s perfect size for us and our 35 pound dog.

I would say a queen but king of you can fit it. Don't do a twin. My fh and I slept on his twin the first couple of months when we were dating and it was crowded. I basically slept in a gap in the wall.

We currently have a full and it's juuust big enough for us to sleep in. Once we buy a house we plan to upgrade to a queen or king depending on the size of the room!

Quick story—. My grandmother used to say “married couples shouldn’t get King sized beds because there’s too much room between you two and you’ll end up divorced.” 🤣😂 (I sure miss her).

Well, funny enough, this is my second marriage and my 1st husband and I didn’t listen and we bought a damn King bed (Haaa... Yep, my granny knew best 😉). FH and I have a Queen and it’s perfect. I’m not superstitious. But, I kinda believe my granny’s bed theory and will never buy a King again. Lol!

Get a queen if you can. My FH and I share a twin and it is tight! I am petite but he has broad shoulders and often either his elbow, his leg, or both end up on top of me durring the night.

I would go as big as you can. If little ones start joining your family or if you become pregnant you’ll need the extra space. For some reason small children take up more space than a full grown man.
