What should we call the ceremony we are having???

As we all know the coronavirus has affected alot of our weddings. We was supposed to have our wedding and the reception May 9th but due to all these closers and social distancing we have to postpone. One good thing is we are still getting married May 9th but it's only gonna be our officiant and our two witnesses. August 8th we will be having or recpection, but I also still want to have a ceremony before the reception. What should we call the ceremony???

I’d say a vow renewal as well. My situation is the same except we’ll showing everyone a video on a projector of our wedding ceremony. That way everyone gets to see how it was the first time.

I might be in the minority, but I think semantics are so not important. Call it whatever you want.
To me "getting married" is the legal stuff and the "wedding" is the ceremony. If the ceremony we share with friends and family is after we are legally married, it's still a wedding to me. I personally hate the term vow renewal.

Vow renewal gets my vote! Right now we're doing a small backyard elopement. We plan to do a vow renewal with a reception at our 1 year anniversary next year after this all hopefully blows over - great idea

I would still call it a wedding. It's the wedding you want it to be. the wording is just semantics the joy, celebration and having your family and friends there to witness it is still your wedding.

Got engaged May 2019. Had to elope on Nov 1, 2019 due to a family death and other factors. Originally planned to have a wedding on May 2, 2020, but had to move to Oct 3, 2020. We are still calling it a wedding celebration even though it has taken this long. 😉
