What should the groom wear?

Taylor, on February 18, 2021 at 6:33 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
Hello all. I have finally decided what I want the wedding party to wear. I wanted opinions on my ideas for the groom, and if you all think my choice of flowers will go well with it all?

The bridesmaids will be in light grey dressesWhat should the groom wear? 1
The groomsmen will be in navy dress pants, white dress shirts, and slate blue tiesWhat should the groom wear? 2
What should the groom wear? 3
The flowers will contain eucalyptus, burnt orange, some peach colors, and burgundyWhat should the groom wear? 4
And my dress is white lace with a nude underlay.
My ideas for the groom:1) An all navy suit, with white dress shirt, and the slate blue tieWhat should the groom wear? 5

2) Light grey suit jacket, navy pants, white dress shirt, and the slate blue tieWhat should the groom wear? 6

He doesn’t necessarily care what he wears. I was interested in him wearing a plaid sport coat with navy pants but he prefers solid colors. I think the light grey suit jacket with navy pants would look very pretty considering the bridesmaids will be in light grey as well. But I also like the idea of an all navy suit because it looks really classy. We haven’t gotten to visit a suit store to test out our different ideas yet either. What do you all think?
Lastly, do you all think my choice of flowers will go well with it all? I wanted colorful flowers and our wedding is in October so I thought that bouquet color and style would be beautiful that time of the year.

I personally prefer only slight differences between what the groomsmen and groom wear so neither would be my choice, but I'm not you. I also prefer the men's ties match the bridesmaids dresses, but again it's completely a personal decision. I'm also not sure how you would tie in the colors you have in your bouquet with the colors you picked. I would probably try to add some type of blue flower into the bouquet to better tie in the colors of the men's outfits with the flowers.

The website I’m ordering the dresses from don’t offer the matching ties for that dress color Smiley sad that’s why I wanted a different color and I absolutely love that slate blue color. Maybe my flowers could be less peachy and maybe have burnt orange, burgundy and blue thistles? That way the blue is incorporated

I was also planning on tying slate blue ribbon around the flower bouquets, and leaving a couple of feet hanging, so the bridesmaids have something that matches the groomsmen

Oh that makes sense then. I originally thought the dress was from Azazie which offers tons of colors and matching ties, but then I realized it was from Birdy Grey which doesn't offer as much. I do think incorporating the blue in some way would be a good idea as it will look more coordinated.

Love your ideas in incorporating the blue into the flowers! I like your #1 option for your fiancé- it’ll make him stand out.

I think in Navy he will stand out from the bridesmaid's color. And agree with him on no plaid. For neatness sake, are you sure you want shirts and ties, rather than vests and shirts, no ties? Depending on your guys size, shirttails half in half out get messy looking very fast, without a vest. But open necks look okay.

That’s not a bad idea. The groomsmen are, in all respect, on the heavier side. I have considered vests, but haven’t been able to find vests that don’t have the cliche satin back. I would want ones that are all linen / cotton

I thought that my groomsmen would look rather nice in just a dress shirt and tie. But, shirt tails wasn’t something I took into consideration

Would you consider a light leather or suede? Men's western wear vests in the $35-50 range are usually satin lining in back. But $90-120 ( before any sales) you most often can get lambskin or other thin leather front and back, with a lining. Nice for fall, for wearing without jackets.
Look at a western wear company like Sheplers
"Scully Western Lamb Vest | Sheplers" https://www.sheplers.com/scully-western-lamb-vest/082A42.html?dwvar_082A42_color=7010 Your dress and ladies' dresses, both of which are great, are soft and pretty, not big city glitz or chic that would be out of place with a light cord or leather or suede. And for the guys, you might consider a tattersall shirt or one with fine pinstripes, blue or grey and tan fine stripes. With solid pants like groom. What should the groom wear? 7
Blues/bluish greys and tans/ brown are classic. And picking up a little bit of both grey and tan ( as 4 of these two) would complement your white and beige (nude) and BM grey, and be great with a mid to navy blue. There are lots of westernwear shops, these folks just do hubby's longer arms and big frame with a slender body cut. Most Western wear co. cut vests 2 inches longer in the fuller mens' sizes in front, to prevent any paunch gap.

Most vests come with a satin back, unless it's a vest specifically made to be worn on its own. My husband and I designed and had made a completely custom 3 piece tweed suit made for him and the vest had a satin back. They do that so it's not too bulky to fit under the suit. I think if you pick a satin that matches the color of the vest it won't seem 80s/prom.
