What should the groom and groomsmen wear?

Alright so here's the sitch: Getting married in Puerto Rico at Hotel El Convento with the ceremony being outdoors in a square that overlooks the bay. My dress is pretty fancy, and the reception venue is a really elegant ballroom with marble floors and chandeliers and all that jazz. We had previously been planning on my fiancé and his groomsmen to wear the same suits that they all just wore for another sibling's wedding in Mexico, which were light colored linen suits. I'm unsure if these suits fit the venue or not so I'm curious about other's opinions. See photos for venue and for what suits they wore this last weekend (and yes... that is my fiancé in all his glory hahaha). Thoughts? Suggestions? I'm wondering if the linen is too informal

I kind of like a formal black suit for that venue. The black and white shiny flooring, the high ceilings, the grand feel and vibe.

Your reception venue looks formal. What does your dress look like? Ballgown? It would be best if you both match in formality and style so you both look like complementary stars. I'm not sure a black shirt, hat, and pocketsquare/ bout would be enough. I would suggest researching what Puerto Ricans wear for formal wear for at least climate practicality. Hot weather countries wear a white dinner coat for tuxedo. He or both of you can also do a wardrobe change. Good luck.

This is my dress! It has sparkles underneath the tulle and has a pretty grand train. Was working to combine an outdoor ceremony with the grandness of the venue. Thought about a ballgown but with the outdoor ceremony it didn't feel right. I've recently seen a combo with black pants and a linen jacket and a bowtie which I thought could work. Also considering having him wear black pants with some color of velvet jacket to match the bridesmaids.

Your venue looks very formal, and it sounds as though your dress matches the formality of your venue. I think the suits you posted look more suited for an informal summer wedding; definitely not a formal winter wedding.

That's kind of what I'm leaning towards as well since my dress is pretty formal (see below). However the ceremony is outside and I don't want him to roast. I've recently seen a combo of linen jacket with black pants and a bowtie that could potentially work for both?

This is the back of my dress, front is above. I kind of agree with you. We will be in tropical weather for sure but my dress doesn't scream beach wedding but rather formal warm weather to me... I'm really appreciating all this feedback!!! His brother's wedding was all outdoors with the reception being in a seaside restaurant at the hotel where you could walk out and straight into the water. I think you're right in that those suits wouldn't end up fitting the venue that we have.

That venue is soooooo amazing. Lucky!! I personally think linen suits is too casual for a ballroom but do whatever works best! IMO Velvet is too heavy for Puerto Rico, but Issa Rae’s husband wore one in sunny south of France so there’s that
