What should I get the Bridesmaids for throwing me a bridal shower?

Sandra, on February 23, 2016 at 11:23 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

Hello, after some hard critiques I've come to the conclusion that I will give the bridesmaids an extra gift saying thank you for throwing me a bridal shower.. now.. I don't want a "something small gift" to be taken as "that's it" so what do you all suggest?

A heartfelt thanks on a nice card, and a small gift. Perhaps a favorite bottle of wine, or an Alex and Ani bracelet, that sort of thing. If the gifts for the wedding are also smaller maybe both? I'm getting them a bunch of stuff for the wedding, and paying for their choice of beauty service so they can feel pampered, so I'll probably do the bracelet and card, and send them flowers.

ETA: also consider the extravagance of the shower when choosing your gift...if they are renting out a whole venue and shelling out lots of money, I'd probably give more than a bottle of wine because that's over the top commitment as a BM/MOH. What I suggested would be fine for a small get together at someone's home, etc.

Tjacob2014- Yes! I need to think of that too! So I guess i'll look for a cheaper dress, supplement the cost still and give them a nice gift at the shower.. yea it would have to be more than a bottle of wine..

Good idea. If you're into the designer look, check out Vow to be Chic. It's a bridesmaid rental company that rents designer gowns for 80-110ish. Azazie is what we are using personally, because each girl can pick their own style in the same color and fabric, and they do custom measurements for free so no alterations, they cost around 110-130.

FH's aunts are throwing me a shower in March. I have been struggling with what to get for them as thank you gifts because they're flying in to IL from WA and CA to throw the shower; I know they would have loved a nice bottle of wine, but that's not exactly travel-friendly. I did some browsing on Etsy (so much fun!) and I am going to make them spa-themed gifts for "showering me with love." I got them sugar scrub cubes, bath/shower bombs, and really nice lip balm. I may get them personalized wine glasses too. I'll write them some nice thank you cards too. I know they will appreciate the thoughtfulness and the last thing I wanted to do was make them struggle to get everything home in one piece.

I love the idea of including a hand written thank you, its personal and heartfelt. The alex and ani bracelet is really cute or something similar from etsy. Maybe take them out to a nice dinner/brunch as well and just have a girls day?

Wow! such great suggestions! I was just on Etsy, the personalized wine glasses are very elegant. I'm definitely going to include a thank you note, and tjacob2014- thanks for the site!!
