What should I get for my bridesmaids?

desiree, on September 24, 2011 at 11:53 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

I am having a super hard time figuring out what would be a great gift for my bridesmaids. Does anyone have any great ideas. I want something that they will really love, but not break the bank. My maid of honor doesn't really wear jewelry either.

My bridesmaides don't wear a lot of jewelry either, but they are wearing it for the wedding. My MIL and I are making the wedding jewelry (earrings and necklaces). Something that they will be able to wear again (when they need to). It is really difficult to figure out... The survival kits are a cute idea! They're gifts don't have to be the same, you could get your bridesmaids jewelry, and your maid of honor something she likes...?

I've just been collecting different things for the last 5 months to give my girls.

I started of by making them jewelry to wear at the wedding

Then got them custom spa stuff I found on Etsy

Then thought, I'm getting married in late fall, and I'm sure they'll get cold, so I got them pashminas to match their shoes.

Then, I was thinking, I requested these girls get specific shoes, and I'm sure they won't want to wear them all night, so I found $2 flipflops in my colors at Hobby Lobby.

And, while I was at Hobby Lobby...I decided I wanted to make shirts for my girls, so I got iron on jewels and cheap shirts on Walmart and made them shirts to wear the day of. I'm still looking for light zipup hoodies to give them as well for the day of Smiley smile

Have you checked out oriental trading? They have some things in there that will not break the bank. They have tote bags that you can personalize. They also have tote bags that say "maid of honor" of "bridesmaid" "Flowergirl" They have other things that are cute too. www.orientaltrading.com

I'm doing make-up for each of the girls. It's something practical but fun.

I am getting everyone something different, basically shopping like it's their birthday. In the past I have gotten typical gifts and never use them.

I found some great embroidered totes on The Knot--ended up getting 7 for less than $40 with shipping! I also did a jewelry party a few months ago and since I was the hostess I got a certain dollar amount of free jewelry, so I got earrings for all of my girls for free :-)

I made them bags with their initials & trimmed with ribbon.

I made them flip-flops, because like Cydney, I requested these girls get specific shoes, and I'm sure they won't want to wear them all night! (the picture attached is one of the flower girl's, the BMs ones are black) I diy-ed them to match. $2 flip flops from old navy, a few rolls of ribbon, and the initials are little pins, so they can remove them after the wedding if they want.

I also got them earrings. Each have pearls, but they are all different styles.
