What should an average venue cost? And what should it include?

Jess , on August 1, 2018 at 7:38 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
I’m so lost on where to start. I have no idea what prices are good or expensive when it comes to looking at venues. I’m just getting started and have no idea what I’m doing. So my question is what is a good price for venues? Is 5/5.5 hours a normal amount of time? Do most of them include bar and catering in their prices? What other costs should I be keeping in mind that aren’t incuded? Tia

There’s such a range for venues. My venue is 1,000 for the room and $6,000 minimum for food and alcohol. My reception is 5 hours which is a normal amount of time I feel. It includes linens, glasses, centerpieces, catering, tableware.

It really depends on type of venue and the location. Talk with your future spouse and families to determine a budget and go from there. We opted for a winter wedding to save money, our venue rental is $3550

That's pretty much impossible to answer. It depends on where, city or country. East Coast, West Coast or mid America. It depends on what the venue provides. Just the space? The space, tables and chairs? The space, tables, chairs, linens, food, flowers, DJ. There are so many variations of what can be provided.

Each venue will be different, some will include everything whereas others will only cover the ceremony and/or reception space. If the venue does not include everything sit down and get a rough idea of how much linens, flowers, dishes, silverware, glasses, alcohol, bartender, centerpieces, and draping etc.

I echo all of the sentiments about venues being different. We are in a HCOL area. Our venue is 10k in site fees with a 40k food and beverage minimum.

All are different! Ours is a 2000 dollar down payment and goes up from there! It was worth the extra bucks though because we get the venue from Thursday-Monday to decorate have rehearsal, clean up, get ready and everything! It all depends all I have to say is do your research on your venue(:

This is so subjective - hard to answer. Our reception site was free with a food and beverage minimum being met, plus we were using the private dining room on a Saturday afternoon and we were done by three.

Some swankier venues charge $6000 for a Saturday evening wedding, and that is not including food and drink! We have many VFW's, one near me charges $850 to rent it and includes a bartender. The inside is very nice, too!! So yes.....big range everywhere!

I'm in Denver, it was quite the range. The cheapest we looked at was $500 and the most expensive was $12,000. About average seemed $5,000-$7,000. Most were between 5-6 hours for event time, and longer if you used their bridal or groom's suite. None including catering or bar. The prices were for using the venue, tables & chairs. Ours requires we buy insurance and use a coordinator, so those were extra.
