What Planning Goes on During the 6-8 Weeks Before the Wedding?

3Lol, on October 4, 2015 at 10:13 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

FH and I are both third year law students and will be taking the bar on 7/26-7/27 of next year. Our wedding date is 8/13/16. For 6 weeks before the bar we'll be focused almost exclusively on studying/taking bar prep classes. We set our date so soon after the bar because we'll both be starting new jobs in September of next year and won't have an opportunity to take time off, etc. for quite some time.

I was wondering what planning/prepping goes on in those 6-8 weeks before the wedding and if we could front load any of that into the early months of next year? We'd like to get as much planning done as early as possible. We already have most of the big decision made and vendors booked, except for a meal caterer.

Thanks!

Most of your planning should be done already, but you will need to meet with vendors, get your dress alterations finalized, drop off deposits, etc. You will be busy, plus in that last month, people will start texting/calling/emailing yo. It gets very hectic.

You might want to consider a DOC to help you. Worth the peace of mind. Good luck!

OMG! My wedding date is 8/13/16 and FH and I just graduated law school in May. We took the bar already( tip: don't do anything wedding related during that time unless it is absolutely necessary). I wish i could tell you what happens 6-8 weeks before the wedding but i don't know. However 2 of my friends who graduated law school and took the bar had their wedding 1st and 2nd week in September and they both had amazing weddings. You can also look at your WW timeline to see what you would need to do.

These last week's before the wedding have been some of the most work for me. I would suggest getting a wedding planner to take a lot of stress off you during that time. I don't have one but if I had the money, I would make the investment

@FinallygLovers - How random!! Congratulations on graduating and taking the bar, I can't even imagine what a relief that must be!

@LivelyBride and @SweetBean - Thanks for the advice! It's probably not in budget for us to hire a full-fledged wedding planner for the whole process, but our venue does offer their event planner as a sort of "week of coordinator" for a pretty minimal fee, sounds like that may be something we need to consider.
