What percentage of guests would attend a breakfast buffet?

Liz, on September 2, 2010 at 11:38 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

We're planning on hosting a breakfast buffet at the hotel where our guests will be staying the morning after the wedding. Does anyone have any idea how many people to plan on if we are expecting about 175 for the wedding? Thanks!

If you have a website, you can ask them to RSVP on the website.

I would say base it off the number of people that will be staying at that hotel. I doubt people who aren't staying at the hotel would come to the breakfast unless they are family.

Is it a Sunday? I think you'll have to factor in how many out of town people will be traveling back that day but I'd say other than family and your BP not many. As just an attendee at weddings I haven't been to any of the morning after brunches but as a family member or bridesmaid I have.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! It is on a Sunday, most people will be staying at the hotel, if say..130-140 people are at the hotel, maybe 75 people for breakfast? I am afraid to have a formal RSVP because people's expectations might be higher. It's going to be a very low-key, holiday inn buffet.

Liz - People who have a long drive home or school/work on Monday probably won't attend a post-breakfast, unless it starts early. Those who have afternoon flights home probably will attend.

I would say do it continental-style and let everyone come in and out as they are checking out. I would say to start it rather early in the morning since you may have some folks who plan on hitting the road (or the skies) early for whatever reason. I think what you are doing is a very nice gesture. I thought about doing this for my guests but I just can't fit it in the budget or around the fact that I plan on attending church the day after my ceremony. Smiley smile

An Idea for letting your guests know about the buffet would be to have your hotel staff place an informal invite on their pillow so they know about it when they check in. You could make them very easily out of cardstock from Office Depot and give them to the hotel staff.

It all depends. Is this a destination wedding? If so, more will come to breakfast.

If not, how many are staying at the hotel?

My daughters wedding was at a hotel. We only invited the parents, grandparents and bridal party to the brunch. Not all could make it, so we ended up with 12 at brunch.
