What kind of veil for strapless mermaid dress?

Jessica, on May 30, 2019 at 4:43 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
Once again I need some fashion advice from you lovely ladies! Trying to get all my attire and accessories together for my bridal portraits next month.

I want to wear a 2 or 3 tier veil. Trying to decide though on which kind of veil.

I bought a few cheap ones and played with them around the house, so I know I want a veil with some volume. One I bought is fingertip length but its soooooo thin, even though its 2 tier, that you cant even see it when I'm looking straight on in the mirror.

So far the only things I'm sure of:
1. I want a veil
2. I want some volume to it
3. At least 2 tiers.

I would like suggestions on what you think would look good with my dress for:
1. Veil length
2. Embellishments: lace, crystal, beading, ribbon, etc?
3. Anything I may have not considered.

I attached pics of my headpiece, my dress, jewelry and the hairstyle I'm planning on.

ANY SUGGESTIONS would be much appreciated! AND PICS OF STYLES YOU THINK WOULD LOOK GOOD are a huge bonus!

I have a similar style dress and I went with cathedral length! For yours, I wouldn't do lace because I feel like the dress is lacy enough and you don't want it to be too much. I think some beading would look lovely!

Since your dress already has a beautiful train, I'd opt for a mid-length or shorter veil. No embellishment needed Smiley smile

This is what I was thinking too. The problem for me is I haven't been able to try on my "play veils" with my dress bc its been at the seamstresses. I am going for another fighting Saturday though and will take the feels with me then

Thank you! I was afraid lace would over do it, even though I love the mantilla style veils.

Yeah I love those too but I think it may detract from your dress, which is so gorgeous btw! I do think you could go with a shorter veil if you want... my dress is similar in style but my train is a lot shorter than yours, so I wanted a cathedral to have a more flowy effect for myself haha, but I don't think it's necessary for yours since you have such a long train already (unless you want it!)

A plain chapel length veil would look so great with your dress.

    1. I'd go cathedral length since you have a long train.

    2. I think more simple would be better, since your dress and train are detailed.
    3. I'm only wearing mine for the ceremony and pictures, then taking it out. I don't want to deal with it during the reception. So mine will clip into the back of my hair.

Where did you get your head piece?

    Thank you!

I actually made my headpiece. I knew the design I wanted, but to buy the 'halo' headpiece in a similar style that was also in rose gold was upwards of $200. I just couldn't spend that much. So I bought a Wedding Belt off Amazon for $14, some thin copper wire, and glue, about $25 total. Then cut the ribbon and excess metal off the belt and used the glue and wire to attach my combs! It took 3 days for the glue to fully set, and its good to go now.
