What kind of beer and wine should we get our guests?

JoAnna, on May 6, 2018 at 9:23 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6
The venue we rented for our reception only allows for beer and wine, no liquor, and we are to supply the alcohol. I’m not much of a drinker, and I definitely don’t know much at all about wine. What are some good options for beer and wine?

I don’t know much about wine, but as for beer I would serve and IPA, lager, and a wheat/blonde beer.

Wine I’d go for a couple of whites, a couple of reds and perhaps a rosé. Chardonnay and a Sauvignon Blanc or pinot gris/pinot Grigio should cover most white wine drinkers, and a pinot noir and either a merlot or Shiraz should cover most red wine drinkers. We had something very similar and no one had any issues.

We are just doing beer and wine by choice. We do have a lot of wine drinkers, but also a lot of beer drinkers. We are doing a bud light or something, Stella, and a local IPA (probably heavy seas). Then for wine we definitely want Chardonnay, a Rose , and a Cabernet. Because I like sweet whites, I’ll probably do a Moscato or something similar, then we will probably do a second red like Pinot noir? Not positive. Good luck!

A lot of the people i know around here drink Sierra Nevada and coors. I drink either and I defiantly don't drink wine but I would suggest getting a red and white.

Pinot grigio, pink zinfandel, pinot noir or cabernet sauvignon, and a semi sweet red blend. Have 2 reds, 2 whites. Most white fans like pinto grigio, a pink zinfandel is one the sweeter side for sweet wine drinkers (it's a rose color), pinot noir is a light dry red that's good for red drinkers, and a semi sweet red blend is a crowd pleaser. Chardonnays tend to have a very select following because they have a unique oaky taste. If you have to take home the leftover wine, I would stick to unoaked wine because new wine drinkers tend to like these more.

White wine: Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc

Red wine: Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot

Light beer: Bud, Miller, or Coors

IPA: Sierra Nevada, Goose Island, or pick a local one

Lager: Sam Adams, Yeungling, Brooklyn, or pick a local one

    Import: Heineken or Stella

Could add a wheat such as Blue Moon and a local favorite but the four categories above should have you covered.
