Splurge: I don't really consider good food and alcohol a splurge, more of a must have. I did, however, splurge on my wedding invites, custom cufflinks for the guys, and custom postage stamps for the invites.

Save: We got a massive (got lucky) deal on our top notch photographer. I'm also saving on decor by doing everything myself for next to nothing. I paid $700 for my dress and only purchased other things during sales I knew would come up if I was just patient. We also saved by doing our wedding on a Sunday, but that wasn't exactly by choice (no more Saturdays available). No favors. We also haven't hired a florist and don't plan on it except to make my bouquet and order a few sunflowers to place in places I want them.

I don't feel like I really splurged on anything, since I originally budgeted a certain amount for every vendor. But I feel like I may have spent a bit more on the florist and DJ than I planned.

I saved a ton of money on the photographer and the bakery costs, as well as hair and make up. The photographer gave us an amazing deal because we are friends of a couple he shot. And the bakery is small and super budget friendly. Hair and make up could have been easily astronomical! Like the typical amount where I am is $1,500 for the bride and BM's. I'm spending around $700!

We are eloping and we splurged ridiculously on an over the water suite at our resort because I have always wanted to stay in one - I can't even wait. As for my wedding attire, I took the approach of splurging on the things I would definitely wear again and would be incorporated into my daily life - so I spent less on my dress than I initially planned and quite a bit more on shoes and jewelry.

We saved on invites. Our invites are beautiful for what we paid for them. But our thinking was, it makes no sense to spend so much money on something that people will put on their fridge and forget about and then will go in the garbage. We set a reasonable price point and shopped around until we found something that we really liked in that price point.

We "splurged" on the cake. We're having a 30 guest wedding and a cake that will feed double that because I really really wanted a three tier cake decorated a certain way. Oh and we splurged on a solo cellist for the ceremony because it's just incredibly romantic and lovely and it was one of my dreams. But even are "splurges" are really low cost. I'm a good shopper and saver.

Splurges: candelabras, magnet STDs, venue with comfy seats n great food & renting a wine barrel to use for décor/cake stand.

Saved: videographer, invitations, FB wedding resale group for décor, eliminated a bunch of stuff we didn’t love/wasn’t going to affect the guests’, might be foregoing a bachelorette party as most of my friends n I already have our annual summer girl’s weekend planned & I’ll probably just suggest a sister’s weekend for another time instead…saves everyone time n $.

Not necessarily splurging much in my opinion. Definitely researched a lot with vendors though on the cheaper side. Our caterer is $8/person but have a attended a wedding that she catered and she went well above her expectations! We are also saving on photographer. Although I love pictures and memories, it's not my top priority. Also FH's parents think our $1200 venue is way too much. Lol. So I guess in a sense we splurged on that. Most locations near me are $500-$800.

We spent the most on food and drinks.

FH and I are foodies so we wanted to make sure our food was excellent! Out of all the weddings I've been to I can only remember how bad the food was. I didn't want that to be the case for our wedding.

We tried to save on florals, photography and our cake but that didn't happen. Lol it will be worth every penny in the end!

My FH and I are splurging on our wedding bands. After a while big day of celebrating, it's one of the things we will be holding on to. Also, we splurged on our photography. Again, something else we will have afterwards.

Splure: photographer ($6000 for 9 hours plus a second shooter), the DJ ($2500, includes sound, wireless mics, and uplighting), and the bachlor/bachelorette parties were both OOT destination parties so we offered to pay for all of the accommodations of the wedding party members.

Save: Flowers (doing dried flowers and non-flowering centerpieces instead of fresh flowers) and the dress (realizing the average cost of a wedding dress was $****, the same cost as two round trip tickets back to my home country of Vietnam, FH and I are using the money instead to going to Vietnam to get the wedding party outfits made including my wedding dress, which will cost me less than $50, including custom design, fabric, and labor. This way, FH can meet MOB side of my family, get to know the country that I was born in, and we can have a pre-honeymoon before the craziness really begins

Splurged on food and booze! Also a waterfront venue was a must for me.

Saved on dress ($300) and photographer ($500). Similar to PP, I just don't display pictures and only hoped for a few nice ones to share.

I don't know if it's really considered splurging for the area I am in because everything is pretty expensive, but I would say the florist. We are going with a high end florist because their work is phenomenal and the decor is very important to me. When I was there he kept saying what about this or what about that and I just said yes to everything.
