What is your Something Old, Something New...

Colleen, on July 25, 2019 at 5:12 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 15
For those following the tradition of something old something new, something borrowed, something blue (& a sixpence in my shoe)?

Old/Borrowed: mom's headpiece and possibly jewelry, my shoes (broken in already and look great with the dress)

    New: dress, veil

Blue: possibly jewelry or a handkerchief tucked in my dress

Old: a watch I bought with birthday money from family for my 25th birthday. My grandparents contributed the most towards the purchase and I thought a watch was fitting since my late Grandfather’s father had been a watch maker so my grandfather had a strong interest in clocks.

New: probably earrings, suppose could be dress or shoes

Borrowed: going to try it on to see for sure, but my mom is bringing an ankle bracket that belonged to my great grandmother

    Blue: probably my undies lol

Penny: my in-laws to-be helped me find an Australian Penny (stopped being minted in the 60’s and no longer in circulation) from 1955, which is the year my grandparents got married 😍 they celebrated over 50 years together! When I told my grandma she said it made her cry and said she hopes we have as much happiness as they did. My soon to be husband is Australian so I thought this is a nice way of bringing in my new culture.

All I have so far are old and new. My something old is a string of heirloom pearls that were passed down to me after my grandmother passed away. My something new is, of course, my dress, my tiara, my shoes, and pretty much everything else xD. I don't have a something borrowed or something blue yet.

    Borrowed/old : my mother’s necklace
    new: dress
blue: having my bridesmaids sign my shoes in blue marker on my wedding day.
I have a ballgown dress so you won’t see the shoes but I like the personal touch of the shoes ☺️

Something old: my grandmother made these tissue flowers when she was alive. I have the cream one, and my stream stress is going to sew it into the train of my dress. Also, our toasting champagne glasses - they were my directors & his wife wedding glasses.
    borrowed: my cousins wedding belt
    new: handkerchief
    Blue: FMIL sapphire blue earrings
