What is your bridal party doing immediately after introduction?

C, on June 14, 2018 at 10:22 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9

So, my bridal party and parents will be introduced before fiancé and me. Should they just stand on the dance floor clapping while they wait for everyone to be introduced? Do they go sit down? What do they do!

We aren't doing a group slow dance, and we're not doing the "bridal party" bridge where they all grab hands and we run through them. So what should we do? Ideas please =)

They typically go to wherever they will be sitting (Head table if you are having a table or if you are doing a sweet heart table they will go to wherever they will be sitting)

I've always seen them go straight to their seat and sit down. I guess either option would be fine though.

It depends, are you dancing immediately after your grand entrance? Then I would have them line the dance floor, or stand in groups on the side of the dance floor so other guests can also see.

If you are not dancing immediately after, I would have them go stand by their tables.

Our wedding party will go to their tables after they are introduced, we will come in last and go into our first dance while the party/other guests are sitting down!

Usually they go to the edge of the dance floor, clap their hands, dance in their place (assuming the DJ is playing something upbeat), and wait for the bride and groom to come to the center and begin their first dance. Then everyone stands around and watches them dance. Here's a pic from our first dance, you can see our WP and parents in the background.

I'm a wedding singer and have never seen the bridal party just go straight to their seats, so I'm very surprised by the above comments.

    1. MFB I love looking at your wedding photos!

    2. ^^^^^^^^^^^ all of what MFB said. Unless you are doing dances out of order the bridal party would wait for you at the edge of the dance floor to watch your 1st dance.

Thanks, that' makes sense. I guess they can stand by the sweetheart table as not to block the view of others, and then we'll go into our first dance.

Also, we had our guests join us on the dance floor about halfway through our song, so having the wedding party already standing up encouraged the rest of the guests to get up and dance too. The band went right into their first dance set at that point, so it worked really well, no one sat down after our song was over. (here we have dancing in between formalities and dinner courses)
