What is the Status of Your Dress Order with DB?

LB, on January 4, 2014 at 6:40 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

I logged onto my account at David's Bridal and it says my dress order is "pending." This freaked me out to no end. They didn't order my dress yet? Because I got the bill for it and it's paid in full. I called and they said that they will be doing a 'purchase order' soon and that the dress will be shipped to them March 12 and will be to the store by April 4. That gives me one month for alterations and I am **nervous** about that!

If you ordered a dress from DB, what is the status of your dress? Is this normal? The sales rep told me my dress is "cut to order" and she had concerns that it wouldn't come in on time. She said this **after** I ordered the dress.

I don't understand why a dress order would be 'pending' -- does anyone else have that as a status? I purchased the BM dresses and the order status is not "pending" - I forget what the status is exactly but it's more definitive.

Can someone help me decipher this? WORRIED!

When did you order the dress? I never looked up any type of status or anything (I didn't even know I could?), but I ordered mine the end of April, and they told me it wouldn't be in until July. It came in in May. Usually dresses from there come in very quickly.

Not sure, I know all my girls got thier dresses there and they actually came in WEEKS BEFORE they said it would. I would call and speak to a manager, they usually are more help. I fyou dont understand something tell them to re-explain it to you!

Heads up. I took mine into DB today for alterations. Unless you pay a $25 rush fee, the minimum time is 4 weeks for alterations. The rushed time is 2. All they have to do to mine is add two snaps so that the shrug won't fly off in the wind and they won't have it ready until January 29.

But my dress also came in after only a month. They told me it would take 2.

Thanks, everyone. I ordered the dress in early November. One of the BM dresses is in already and it was ordered last month. I spoke with the manager, and she is the one who told me about the 'purchase order' - also DB is the manufacturer of all of it's dresses - no matter who designs them. Who knew that?!

Anyway, the manager said there will now be a 'rush' on the dress (and assured me I won't have to pay for it) and that there will be plenty of time for alterations. Um...I'm worried.

The manager had NO explanation at all for what 'pending' meant and this 'cut to order' stuff is freaking me out. The dress isn't in a warehouse. They have to make it. DB hasn't put in a 'purchase order' with their factory (or whoever makes the dresses) to have the dress made.

Has anyone checked dress status online? What on earth does PENDING mean? It seemed like the manager didn't want to tell me. Freaked.

Your dress is not cut to order. That is a complete lie. It may be out of stock at the warehouse and they are just waiting for more from the designer to come in, but it's an "off the rack" store, so DB dresses are never cut to order.

Pending means your order is in the system, it just hasn't shipped is all.

I don't understand why it's taking so long to get your dress. I special-ordered my dress in petite - which you can only do in the store - and I still received it within a month. I would ask to speak to a manager, and then if you get nowhere, call their customer service line to figure out what the hell is going on.

Not to contradict Erica, but I had my civil service dress altered in 2 weeks and did not pay a rush fee. I just gave them my date and they met it. It may depend on the season though.

As long as you receive it by March though, you're fine.

I ordered mine online and I was kind of hoping it would take a little while to get here. It showed up three days later. I love it. It's all good.

That's what the lady at mine told me - so maybe it's different for each store. The store I use is the busiest in Houston.

    @Jenn, it is CWG592, Oleg Cassini: http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Mixed-Metallic-Lace-Organza-Ball-Gown-CWG592_Bridal-Gowns-Features-New-Arrivals

Thank you for calming my fears about the 'pending' status. I will call customer service on Monday. I also didn't believe the "cut to order" thing - that would be couture then right? Oleg Cassini is not exactly what I would consider couture. Thank you for cutting through some of the BS. I feel a little more calm now. Thank you.

@Karen, your post made me laugh. I felt the same way when they told me I had to pick up the dress and tote it back and forth for alterations. I thought they kept it for us. Naive, right?

@Erica, it probably depends on the store and how 'foxy' they are about alterations. It's probably more enforced in the bigger stores, like you said. Also, some are probably more lenient in the policy than others.

I ordered mine on 10/8/13 and I still haven't received mine. My order status also says pending. The only thing I've received is my slip. I'm also calling the store in the morning...

I have the same dress! The day I tried it on I went home with it so idk anything about this "pending". But I did order a BM dress for my friend's wedding and I think it is taking longer than it should.

I agree with Mrs.Clark to Be - I received my dress within about a month of ordering it. I was initially told 2 - 3 months. Its sitting in my closet right now. I didnt know they had a tracking system online, that would drive me nuts!

Maybe some stores are different and order it closer to your date so you dont have to store it at home?

I ordered mine online and it said "Pending" for-freakin-ever and then suddenly it changed to "arrived - on truck for delivery." I dont think DB's warehouse updates their statuses very often.

I didn't even know you could look that up online. I got mine about 3 weeks after the final payment.

I walked out with mine. The only alteration I need to get done is to lengthen the underarms. They cut me a little. I will take my dress to my dependable seamstress as she is cheaper than DB and does excellent work.

I went in on Black Friday and found/ordered/paid for my dress. I was told it would be up to 3 months, which was fine.

I didn't even have time to start worrying about it, because about 3 weeks later, I got an email saying it was in and we needed to come pick it up! I think they tell people more time than it will really be just in case there are issues down the road.

My Vera Wang from DB came in in a week. They are def not cut to order - which was HORRIBLE for my seamstress. I did not use DB for alterations, I took it to someone I trusted.
