What is the EASIEST way to transfer a certain font onto wood to paint?

Let me see if I can explain how I do it without confusing you. --1.) Print out what you want on the thinnest paper you have. 2.) Flip the paper over and on the WRONG side of the paper, trace the outline of your letters with a soft leaded pencil. You might have to tape it to a window so you can see. 3.) Securely tape your paper right side up onto your piece of wood exactly where you want it. 4.) Now carefully trace the outside of your letters again but on the right side of the paper. Check it after a letter or two to make sure it is transferring. Be sure not too press too light or it won't tranfer, or too hard or you will dent your wood.

If you don't have transfer paper, you can "make your own"

Print out the words you want in the correct size.... color the back of the paper with the side of a pencil where the edges are.

Put the paper, graphite side down on the sign... trace your letters.

Transfer paper would be the easiest, but a trick we used in design school was to print out the image, turn the paper over, take a pencil, and lightly but heavily cover the area you want to trace in pencil. Then turn the paper back over, lay it on the wood, and trace around the letters pressing heavily (you can use a pen for this so the lead doesn't break.) The pencil that you put on the back of the paper will transfer to the other surface when you press heavily on the right side of the paper. Here is an example, although we always put more pencil lead on the back to make the image appear more easily.l

I recommend Sulky (brand) transfer pens. I use these all the time for embroidery. These pens are supposed to work on wood also.

I would print out whatever text you want - but reversed. Then trace over each letter with the sulky pen. Then put the paper on your medium and iron. The text should be transferred. Waaa laaa!
