What is everyone having their Father Daughter/Mother Daughter/ or alternitive Bride special Dance to?

BeckiO, on February 25, 2009 at 8:54 AM Posted in Planning 0 20

What song are you all planning to dance with your fathers/mothers/ brother/sister/uncle/cousin, etc.? I was thinking since I'm opting not to have my dad walk me down the isle, every event I go to I always save a dance with him. He and I don't have nearly the same relationship we used to, but I figure I owe him that much. The song that perfectly fits my dad's and my relationship is Billy Ray Cyrus's (not the one with Miley) version of "Ready, Set, Don't Go." Here is the link for the song for anyone who hasn't heard it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBxzJySb-68&feature=related

I think the song is so beautiful and makes me cry when I hear it. Grooms please feel free to enlighten us on what song you're dancing with your mom/sister/ cousin/or other special person to fill the role.

I will be dancing with my dad to Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle. It was also covered by Garth Brooks, still not sure which version I like best yet. Another beautiful father/daughter song is My Little Girl by Tim McGraw.

I'm dancing with my mom to Dance with My Father by Luther Vandross. It fits us perfectly since my dad passed away almost 2 years ago.

Debbie, I love that song. Perfect for a Deceased FatherSmiley smile You're bringing tears to my eyes just thinking of it. I love Butterfly Kisses too. Great songs ladies. I know my dad tried pulling his and my mom's Wedding song Frank Sinatra's "My Way" on me at my Bat Mitzvah and not a Father Daughter Dance Song. He then chose Michael Jackson's "You Are Not Alone". I couldn't wait to get off the dance floor dancing to a Michael Jackson song. I had the hardest time finding the right song for my dad and I, and when I heard Billy Ray's "Ready, Set, Don't Go" even when he sang a clip of it on Hannah Montana (my son loves that show and gets down to "The Best of Both Worlds" and jumps like crazy on the bed) I knew it was the perfect Father Daughter Song. I don't even know what my sister danced to with our father at her Wedding.

RAO, I know what you mean, I don't know how I'm going to get through that one. Everytime I hear it on the radio I cry like a baby, thank God for waterproof makeup! Smiley smile The song fit because I was able to dance with my dad at my sister's wedding to my dad's favorite song, Beyond the Sea by Bobby Darin, which I will be playing at my wedding in honor of him.

My little cousin loves Hannah Montana so I know what you mean about hearing The Best of Both Worlds and they go crazy! LOL

Debbie, I love "Somewhere Beyond the Sea". Makes me think of Finding NemoSmiley smile I wanted Bryan Adams "Everything I Do, I Do it For You" as a Father Daughter Dance song, however so many Brides choose it. I wanted something different. Needless to say Bryan Adams will in fact be fit in somewhere. I don't know what it is with Billy Ray Cyrus, Jon Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, New Kids on the Block, and John Stamos all hunks and I have to have them all incorporated one way or another. At least everyone can hear a different side of Billy Ray Cyrus that isn't "Achy Breaky Heart".

My fiancee refuses to dance with his mother because they constantly fight and "she don't even know how to dance" I thought itd be nice since they do constantly fight but i'm not gonna tell him what to do lol. But for my Father/Daughter dance i'm going to dance to either Stealing Cinderella, My little girl by tim mcgraw, or butterfly kisses. I think my little girl because every time both my dad and I listen to that song we cry and he always says about chasing my dreams but if I need him hes there and I can always come to him

I would really love to dance with my Dad to "It won't be like this for long" by Darius Rucker (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=at_lUnFjXg8&feature=related). He is not a country fan though so I might just let him pick and surprise me. I think it might be more fun if I have no idea what to expect.

My father doesnt know it yet but, I think were going to dance to "Down the Road" by Kenny Chesney... We arent very close anymore, considering we live SEVERAL miles away (Me-IA Him-FL) When I first told him about Patrick and I meeting, all he asked was if he can support me, if he went to school, and if he's a christian. This song is perfect. I dont want anything to lovey dovey, cuz thats not how we are anymore Smiley sad The song talks about how the Mother wants to know if hes washed in the blood or just in the water and her father wants to know if he makes enough to have his daughter down the road.... Its a good song... For Patrick and his Moms dance, Idk what he wants, hasnt really mentioned it lol We are doing something a lil special for his parents too, were going to play their wedding song and let them have a dance...

Those are all great songs. I love how eventhough some of us have similar tastes in music, we all want something different and for different reasons. I know my dad was heartbroken when I was having a rough time in college and only lasted 2 years for personal reasons I needed to cope with and wanted to move out and being his first born. He was always by my side and there when I needed him the most (college incident). I still love my dad to death and he knows that deep inside. It's my stepmom I have the issues for changing him in ways I don't like and her and other women ruining his and my mom's marriage. She doesn't even realize he has his moments where he snaps and will take physical anger out on people (mom and I), but even for who he is, I still love him. He never liked my ex but I was happy that he didn't have a problem with my husband and more importantly my mom's view of him. I'm so lucky to have a Southern Gentleman as a husband and so is my sister. That's all I ever wanted.

I'm also planning to have a dance with my little guy to Bette Midler's version of "Baby Mine" from Dumbo. I can only imagine how that will turn out, but he's my baby boy and I'd be the most honored Bride and Mom to share a dance with him that day. Hubby hasn't told me if he wants a dance with his mom or what song to dance with her to, or if he wants a family dance with our son and I to Rod Stewart's "Forever Young".

I think that my father/daughter song is going to be I Loved her first, every time I hear that song it brings tears to my eyes. I'm not sure what the mother/son dance will be, I think he had Simple Man, in mind.

As for dancing with your son, that is a great idea, our son will be 2, a week after our wedding, and I never thought of having a dance with him, maybe I just might throw one in, everyone would just love it.

Awww, congratulations. Your little guy is a little over a month younger than our son. He'll be 2 July 3rd of this year (he couldn't wait one more day). He'll be 5 well almost 6 when we plan our Vow Renewal. Funny enough my son got to experience his first wedding 2 days after his 1st B-day (my sister's Wedding) and now a 2nd Wedding a week after his 2nd B-day (BIL's 2nd Marriage). I know I wouldn't feel right now having a spotlight dance w/o him in it. He's my most prized posession and the best gift I've ever received, besides my husband. I can't wait to have him back in my arms tonight.

I am dancing with my dad to Heatwave's "Always and Forever"... it was the song my mom and he danced their first song to at their wedding and we are keeping it a surprise...

IF it were to change it would probably be the song "Somewhere Out There" from the movie The American Tale

My FI is dancing to Boys to Men "Song for Mama" with his mom

And if we do the Bride/FOG Groom/MOB dance it will either be to "Dance" by LeAnn Wolmack or "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts

Funny someone mentioned Guns N Roses "Sweet Child of Mine" I'm guessing that's what my hubby wants to have his Mother/Son Song to since it is one of his fave songs.Melissa, I love "Somewhere Out There". American Tail was one of my fave childhood movies. That's what I want to dance with my kid brother who will by then be 16. I'm also going to have a dance just my mom, sister, & I to Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" since that was my sister's and my version of Barney growing up. We know every line from that movie, danced to every song and my mom thinks of the 2 of us everytime that movie is on TVSmiley smile It was even part of my 21st B-day present from her too (the movie on DVD).
