What is an appropriate amount to spend on flowers?

Taylor, on February 29, 2020 at 10:23 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 7
So, I know this question depends on a bunch of factors (location, season, style, wedding party size etc) but I am just trying to figure out what a good ball park is for flower decor. I only have my sister in my wedding party, so we only need two bouquets and it will be in the Hudson Valley, NY in November. I will be having about 90 guests. I see online the average is $1,500-2,500 but I saw a few people charging $5,500-7,500, which seems high but I also don’t know what the going rate for ceremony/reception flowers. Sincerely, a bride who wants a nice wedding without going over budget 😹😅

It really depends on what you having for your centerpieces which can add up. We are doing single rose with baby breath for centerpieces, 4 bridesmaids and groomsmen. We are doing small vases one on each table for smaller buds and corsages for the parents. Total is $750

I don't know the cost, but a relative got married in upstate NY and she did all her flowers through her local Wegman's grocery store. They were gorgeous, and she said they were significantly less expensive than any of the more traditional florists she talked with. They didn't have a wedding party, so it was just her (HUGE) bouquet, corsages & boutonnieres for the parents, a large arrangement for the ceremony, and very nice centerpieces for the reception tables. Good luck!

The easiest way to save money is not having real flowers as your centerpieces or ordering them from a bulk website and putting them together yourself the day before

I found someone who is an independent florist and I’m getting my bouquet and 6 bridesmaids for $750. Sometimes it helps to go to someone who you’ve seen pics of their work but they aren’t very “large” yet. Here was her last wedding! What is an appropriate amount to spend on flowers? 1

You could save some money by doing fake flowers, at least for the center pieces and then have yours and your bridesmaids be real flowers, or just yours! I’m doing all fake flowers, just because it’s not a top priority for me personally. Fake flowers are also nice because you don’t have to pick a flower based on a season and can use whatever you want. My best friend actually used her bouquet and the bridesmaid bouquets to decorate the head table at the reception instead of buying all new flowers. I’m not sure if that’s a common thing to do or not, but I thought it was a great idea. I really have no idea what flowers cost, even in my own area, but I know they can get pricey. 😅 I hope you find something that works for you!

I would suggest calling some florists you like, telling them your budget straight away, and seeing what that would look like. For the florist I went with, that meant reception flowers and bridal party bouquets, but no boutonnières - something I was totally willing to do. If it helps, this is a wedding of 120 in the berkshires in may, 6 bridesmaids, budget of $3k

We paid $450 for our flowers. Our flowers are artificial. I'd love to have real flowers because of the smell but I just couldn't see spending that much on flowers that aren't going to last. I'm trying so hard to stick to our budget, so I've been going really cheap on certain things like flowers and decorations so that way I can have room in my budget to go expensive on things like my dress, cake and food.
