What i did about Covid-19 stress-

Hello lovely brides.

It has been a whirlwind week for all of us Spring and even summer/fall brides to be to say the least! I have been beyond stressed, sad, and defeated the last few days, especially with FH being out of town, but I finally got things sorted out and feel a lot better. Still a little uneasy, but better!
I went in to speak with my venue today (my wedding is 5/16) and asked them what their current plans are and how to go about postponing. She assured me she does not see them closing down, they even had a wedding today and a lot of things in our state are closed. So what we did was keep my 5/16 date and reserved a backup day of 8/2. It is a Sunday, but there weren’t many options available. While I’m praying and hoping with all my might we don’t have to push it back, it gives me comfort knowing it’s there if I need it.
I also contacted our hotel where we reserved a block of rooms for out of state guests and had them push back the reservation cut off date by 10 days to give my guests more time to asses the situation and for this whole mess to hopefully die down. I typed up a note to my extended family and had my dad email it to everyone basically stating we are still going on as planned and that the hotel reservation date has been pushed back as well as information about what my venue is doing to keep a clean space and what I plan to do the day of (hand sanitizer pumps, having catering manage the buffet, etc...)

While I wish this wasn’t happening AT ALL I decided I couldn’t take being completely helpless to this outbreak anymore. Even with the backup day I would be devastated if I have to cancel my original date due to the venue shutting down but at least I know I won’t be completely out of luck!
(Oh and after that I went to Hobby Lobby to get some more wedding decor and am totally back in the spirit!)
I wish everyone luck and I am praying so hard that we all get our special day.... as planned! We deserve it darn it...!

Also, I deleted my Facebook app for the time being because every time I saw something about it I would start to panic/cry..... 🙃

I just got my first decline because of this virus. Sadly its my sister and i wanted to cry. My fh is trying to make me happy but everytime i look and see the news, it reminds me that its real. Im going to try to keep positive and remember that i am marrying my fh. But thanks for posting this. i do feel comfort knowing people on this forum are here for everyone who has been disappointed with this virus. But thanks again.

This is so horrible! My date is 5/9 and I'm moving forward as if all is going to be OK, but this limbo is nerve-wracking! I just saw a notice from the CDC that recommends the extreme social distancing for the next 2 months...well past the 55 days I have left, so that has me super uneasy.

Thanks for the reco about a backup date. I just contacted my venue to see if they would do that for us. I also love the idea of the hand sanitizer on-site. I'm going to do some amazon shopping now.

Best of luck to you...hopefully we won't have to move dates!

May 8th here - and despite how small (45 people) and somewhat isolated (24 br beach house) my wedding is, I’m still worrying. Everything has gone crazy at work and I’m worried my small group will start to panic as well. Because I have a week reserved at a beach house, there are no back up dates happening - but I will definitely use some of these ideas - having extra hand sanitizers around, and making sure the caterers man the buffet - watching for more suggestions! Maybe I’ll start ordering more for the wedding like OP and get back in the spirit!

Social distancing at a wedding will be....awesome 😐

My wedding date is May 8th and I’m freaking out. I think I should call the venue, but I feel like that makes it even more real. Especially if the photographer I love is not an option. Idk what to do.

Think about it this way. If you put off calling, you have LESS of a chance that the venue and/or photog that you want will be able to do your date. As more and more people resked, their calendars will get more and more booked. Do it now!
