what foundation?

Weddingbliss, on June 24, 2014 at 11:05 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

What foundation did you use for your wedding? I'm thinking of doing it myself after my horrible experience. I was thinking about makeup forever HD, but was wondering what everyone else used and how it looked in pictures?

I was going to go with the HD Foundation, but read online about a couple of brides having bad experiences so I think I'm going to stick with my regular Revlon 24 hour whipped foundation. I used it for my engagement photos as well as a professional family photo and it has come out fine.

I found the makeup forever hd for my epics and thought I loved it, and I do, but when my sister used the airbrush foundation during my trial I thought it was amazing and used it for wedding day! Stays in place and looks flawless and feels lighter than the hd!

I use coverfx cream foundation, and I love it. Hides my acne scars real well. I use it with an airbrush brush, got both at sephora. I also have the Becca mattifying primer and then it stays on literally all day once I set it. I love it!

You can get all of it at sephora! I think the airbrush brush is #56?

I obviously still haven't been married lol but I recently started using "tarte" 12 hr Amazonian clay foundation and I love it! My skin is oily and this foundation helps control that. But like the ladies above said you can go in to sephora and have them try a few on your skin and see what feels best Smiley smile

Thanks ladies, I'm just worried about getting flashback. Although I heard as long as you have a skilled photographer it shouldn't matter.

I used the Dior stuff Ashley mentioned for my engagement shoot and didn't have any problems with the flash Smiley smile

Make sure you don't use foundation with SPF. There was a makeup chat a few days ago and I remember her saying that SPF makeup does not photograph well.

Edit: Here's the discussion. She gives some great advice and product suggestions.

Weddingbliss, just to add to your last comment-- I've heard that you should actually avoid sunscreen or products with SPF for the wedding because that is bad for flashback, just a tip!

When we had that expert talk from Bridgette she recommended CoverFx cream foundation for covering acne. I'm probably going to go with Mary Kay products, though and support my local peeps. Definitely use a primer and possibly a setting spray in addition. Lots of people in the past have recommended MAC, but I've just been using Joe Fresh, which is a drugstore like brand and it seems to do the trick for less money.

I'm going with airbrush for the big day, but have tried different brands for other weddings I have been in/gone to. To make it last and have the best pix, I think it's really important to prep your skin- exfoliate a few days before, lots of moisturizer- and definitely use a primer underneath any foundation. I like feeling "flawless" to cover up old acne scars, without looking too painted up, so I've had good luck with:

    -Primer (Smashbox) http://www.sephora.com/photo-finish-foundation-primer-P9889?skuId=1349968

    -Foundation (Marykay): http://www.marykay.com/en-US/Face/Makeup/Mary-Kay-CC-Cream-Sunscreen-Broad-Spectrum-SPF-15-/Very-Light/111650.partId

    -Setting spray (mac): http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/mac-fix/2926537

I'm also big on highlighting cheek/brow bones, and making sure brows are filled in nicely. It can totally change the look of your face! Last.. lips.... go for a stain to make color last longer, and just touch up with gloss when needed. Benefit makes my favorite brand for all of this stuff (http://www.sephora.com/benetint-P1272?skuId=108779), but cover girl has a good stain too for a lot less: http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/covergirl-outlast-lip-color/ID=prod4416622-product

BB creams have worked really well for me - either Smashbox or Bobbi Brown. I haven't had an issue with SPF foundations and flashback, but it might be because of the powder I use?

I use Stila's Stay All Day Foundation/Concealer. I was looking to change up my foundation awhile back so I went into Sephora and they wiped away a few spots of my makeup (they fixed it up later) and used their machine to determine my skin color. Then I talked with them about what I was looking for --- something fairly matte, for combo skin, with buildable coverage. The Stila foundation is super thick, so you can use just a little and blend it out, or use more for more coverage. It really comes down to your skin type. I took my mom to Sephora and based on her needs, they recommended Cover FX Natural Finish foundation - she wanted light/medium coverage.

For everyday wear I use Urban Decay Naked. For special occasions I use Dior Airflash and it's AMAZING!! I would make sure you have a kabuki brush to apply it and don't spray it directly on your face and then work it in.

Just make sure whatever you buy does not have SPF because that is where you get flashback. Also, don't use to much eyeshadow with a lot of shimmer because that can cause the same effect.

Seriously I use Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation everyday and I get compliments on my skin and complexion all the time in person and in pictures. It looks really natural, isn't heavy and I finish it off with Makeup Forever setting spray from Sephora. Lasts all day and you can get it at any drug store.
