What exactly is 'resort wear'? I haven't a clue..

FMS, the barefoot wife!, on June 23, 2010 at 4:02 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 19

Can anyone tell me or give me examples of what resort wear is? I know that some resorts won't let you dine in some resturants that are fancier if you're not wearing appropriate clothing, but I'm confused as to what resort wear is and what is acceptable to wear..lol

In what context? Usually it means no jeans, no gym type clothes. Things like khakis, polo or collared shirts, slacks or summer dresses.

I personally picture hawaiian shirts, khaki shorts, and loafers lol. But that's not very fancy so I'm definitely wrong.

Analy has the right idea. generally, no jeans or shorts and probably not flip flops if were talking about eating at a restaurant.

9.24.11-haha, it could be that....generally resort wear isnt fancy, just a step up from casual-maybeyou could say *nice casual* attire.......nice tops, pants that arent jeans, summery dresses or skirts, nice sandals, etc.

If at a fancy dinner, I'd say run for the LBD.

Think casual but dressed up. In this instance leave the jeans, shorts, T-shirts and flip flops at home. Nice beachy dresses are the easiest fall back here with dressier sandals (they can be flats), guys, khaki pants or shorts with a linen or lightweight button down or polo with casual driving loafers or dressy beach sandals (if that is your mans thing).

I'm assuming jean shorts and capris would be okay for things like zip lining or doing things off resort?

We just came back from a resort in Mexico, and they had a dress code. Does your resort have a specific dress code in place?

For our resort, the restaurants required collar polo type shirts for men, and khakis with closed toe shoes. And for women it was pretty much anything goes. Usually women dress up, I wore a lot of cute dresses with sandals.

Oh for things like zip lining, yeah I would recommend comfortable carpris, and shirts.

If this is at a resort, it only applies at the restaurants. Smiley smile

When we went to Sandals, the formal restaurants required that the men wear long pants, close-toed shoes, and a collared and/or button up shirt. Women could pretty much wear whatever kind of dress they wanted (obviously the more formal the better though).... they were much more lenient on what the women could wear than the men. Which was pretty smart of them, considering you NEVER want to tell a girl her outfit isn't appropriate for your restaurant LOL

Where are you going on your honeymoon? When we went to Sandals our resort causal was no bathing suits and guys had to have shelves on their shirts.

I think LBD is little black dress.

Resort casual is pretty flexible. They just don't want you showing up for dinner in your cut-offs or sweats. Some of the more upscale dining venues will have a bit higher standard. But you're on vacation! Enjoy it!
