Im getting ready to start my dress shopping and think I need some mental preparation for this! I dont know what size dress Ill be and Im pretty conscious about trying things on. I actually just went clothes shopping for the first time since last spring, just a few days ago. Any thoughts? Im expecting to be a plus size-- but am not sure and want to be prepared if I have to put up with the "plus size" crap of bridal boutiques and warehouses not having bigger sizes available--

PS this isnt meant to offend anyone, I know weight and size is a pain in the A$$ -- just looking for some advice

And what if the bodice has boning? How much can you take THAT in, isn't it limited?

Hello don't worry, when it comes to wedding dresses everyone has to order a couple sizes up. Here is what I tell all my "plus size brides", it can always be ordered in your size. I take all my brides that are really not sure what style dress they want to Davids Bridal. They carry dresses up to a 26 in many different styles. Good luck

One of the nice things about Maggie Sottero / Sottero Midgley is that they do not charge for plus sizes. Size 0 -32 is the same price.

Some designers run WAY smaller than others. I am a size 8 (sometimes a 6) in jeans (medium in shirt, 34C) and needed a size 16 for my Allure dress. I almost had a heart attack in the store, but the woman told me not to freak out and that Allure just had a habit of running super small.

Because of this, I'm pretty sure that those gowns don't hit "plus size" until a size 20 or 22.

Don't even look at the label in the wedding dresses you try on. I'm a street size 4 and was trying dresses in sizes 8 and 10. I was very discouarged the first time this happened but soon learned not to focus on that. As long as you look and feel great in a dress, it doesn't matter what it says on the label.
