what does the junior bridesmaid wear?

Shaina , on September 8, 2008 at 8:41 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Is the junior bridesmaid (age 13) in the same dresses as the bridesmaids? the bridesmaids are in two-tone cranberry and champagne gold. we decided after i already ordered the bridesmaids dresses that she would be a juniors bridesmaid because she is 13. originally, i thought she would be a flowergirl but some people said she is too old. i have another flower girl. i already have the dress for the 4yr old flowergirl. what colors or dress do you suggest for the 13yr old junior bridesmaid?

Ask at your bridal salon they usually have dresses in the same color scheme for the jr BM & FG's that are similar but not as revealing(say the front was low cut on the BM dresses the jr bm would just have a little scoop neckline instead of a low v neckline). Ask the store I am positive they can help you figure something out.

Most junior bridesmaids wear something in between the flower girls and the bridesmaids. For example, if the flower girls are wearing short length white dresses and the bridesmaids are wearing long length colored dresses, then the junior bridesmaids could wear a short length white dress with color coordinated trim like a bow at the waist. HTH. Good luck and best wishes.

    Hello,

In the weddings that I have photographed the junior bridesmaid has worn one of two things, a similar version to what the bride is wearing or a similar version to the bridesmaid.

    Hope it helps,

    Stefanie

I just read your other post about the tuxedo color and you gave a lot more detail about the BM dresses. If they dresses are separates, you can have your Jr. BM in the same thing as the BMs or a similar, but age-appropriate, option. With separates, this should relatively simple to achieve, so play around with different options!

The BM dress that I picked for the girls comes in a Jr. version. The BM version is strapless with extra room for the chest, but the Jr. version is spagetti straps with no bra shelf...since little girls don't have boops : ) (She is 10yrs old)

I had my 14 year old neice as a junior bridesmaid at my wedding and it was one of the most positive experiences for our relationship. The secret to making every one happy and having everything look nice is treating her like a regular bridesmaid. Do not dress her different. It may be appropriate to add straps to her dress because obviously a 13 yeah old should be modest, but keep the same dress! Let her wear the same jewelry and even let her try heels for the first time! If you are having some one do makeup and hair get her hair and makeup done as well, just a younger fresher version (no heavy eyeliner or lipstick!) Girls this age do not appreciate being treated as different but would rather be viewed as grownup. She will love to live up to the task!

Have her wear the same dress as the bridemaids but with straps if their dresses are strapless. I'm kinda in the same place. My little sister is 13 and I'm concerned about what she will be wearing. I ordered the same dress for her as my bridesmaids but I was able to add spaghetti straps. We certainly didn't want that strapless dress to fall right off her.
