In theory, an ivory shirt. But if your guests are going to be that picky about details, they are not the guests you want to invite.

If he's wearing a full suit, white will be fine. If he's just wearing a shirt with no jacket, it may be a little trickier. Honestly, I think white is fine next to ivory but some people are picky.

Well, you can never go wrong with a black tux imho! The shirt underneath can also be ivory, or a cream colour if it looks better with his skin tone.

My dress is light ivory, and I thought the ivory shirts looked dirty next to it (and made my dress look whiter than it is, so we picked white.

I wore a ivory over gold dress and my husband wore a white shirt with a dark grey tux. I don't think it affected the way my dress looked.

FH is wearing a white shirt and my dress is ivory/champagne. I emailed my photographer to see if it would make my dress look dirty and she told me not to even worry about it. Based on her style, it won't be noticeable. Ask the photog

His shirt should be whatever color goes best with his outfit. If he is wearing a tux, the traditional choice is a white shirt. He is not an accessory for the bride.

Mens Wearhouse mistakenly tell couples that the groom should wear an ivory shirt if the bride has an ivory or off-white dress. They say it will make her dress look dingy. It's not true. The only thing that would look dingy is his shirt.

My FH is wearing a red shirt with gray suit. We wanted the bow tie he is wearing to stand out which is why he isn't going with white.

Mine is wearing an ivory vest and bow tie, with a white shirt and black suit. It looks really sharp all together actually!

My gown is ivory, and I hadn't even considered this before last week. We ordered white for my fiancé and after reading a post on WW, I frantically contacted Mens Warehouse to see if I needed to change his shirt and vest. After speaking with the staff on the phone and in person, we stuck with the white. I was told that they advise to go lighter (white) versus going darker (ivory). Hopefully everything will look great in photos.

Your groom's shirt should be white. Ivory shirts on guys look dingy. Go with white and no one will be able to tell the difference. No one in their right mind is going to think your dress is dirty if his shirt is white.

We went with white even though my dress is ivory & champagne. Initially we were going to use Men's wearhouse and their ivory is like a butter color, it's awful. Once we decided to purchase suit pieces, we decided white was the way to go just to keep things simple. I held it up to my dress and it looks just fine.
