What does everyone think about Infinity Bridesmaid Dresses?

Justine, on February 6, 2012 at 2:41 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 14

My bridesmaid are awesome, I couldn't ask for better friends or group of girls to be by my side. They will wear anything but I want them to enjoy it and not be miserable (my M.O.H. said bring on the bows and ruffles lol). From the beginning I told them that they can pick out whatever style they wanted as long as they were in the same fabric and short/medium length. I don't want them spending a lot of money on dresses that they will never wear again and they decided that they want to wear cowboy boots with it. I much rather they go spend $150-$200 on a pair of boots that they will wear again and again than a dress that will sit in their closet.

I am now thinking of Infinity Dresses. The more I look at them the more I fall in love! I just want to see if any of you have had them for your wedding or wore them as a bridesmaid. If so do you recommend them? Is there any pros or cons to this dress?

One of my bridesmaids mom offered to make them for us because they are supposed to be easy. That way I will pay for all of the supplies and all my bridesmaids will be responsible is their boots.

Any input is appreciated!

It sounds like you have a great group of girls! If they want to get boots, I like your overall plan - I'm not personally a huge fan of infinity dresses though b/c the fabric is usually a flimsy knit and I don't think it's all that flattering on most people. But that's just me.

What if your girls all wore a non-matching dress in the same or a similar color? Or even a skirt/top combination? Maybe you could have sashes or boleros made for them to match a little bit, but the dresses could be something from their own closet. ??? Just brainstorming.

They don't like the skirt/ top combos, I told them that they can have non matching dresses aslong as they are in the same fabric. They can be the same color or choose from my two colors. We live in a very small area and don't have a lot of options for bridesmaid dress stores besides David's and they don't want to order something online with out trying it on... So our options are limited. We like a few of the David's Bridal dresses but are unsure if they can pull it off with boots. I love how casual but dressy the Infinity dress can be. Thank you for your advise!

I do love the infinity dress but am not sure about the fabric the material tends show of all the bumps and lumps on the body nothing a pair of spanks cant fix just might want to keep that in mind

I am not a fan of them either.....I feel like they aren't structured enough. They show off everything. And I don't think that they "hang" very well. It's like they are just thrown on and wrapped up.

$32 for these. Do they have your colors?

I've never tried one on, so I don't know about how they fit. But knit dresses don't hide anything.

I like them in theory but anytime I have seen real pictures they just show every bump and often make the boobs look weird.

I really like them! We are making a modified version for our girls. I just wasn't happy with the way that the boobs were not fully covered! Too much side boob action.

    We're using this pattern - http://mccallpattern.mccall.com/m6353-products-14408.php?page_id=108

It has a lot more coverage on the sides and back.

Edit: And they are really easy to make! And if you have a Joanne Fabric, I got all my fabric there with their 40% off coupon, which make the dresses pretty cheap

Another Edit: And it doesn't ahve to be jersey, it can be any kind of stretchy fabric - advice, don't pick something too heavy or thick, that will make wrapping more difficult, and make sure you pick something that is good on BOTH sides, as you will see the back of the fabric during the wrapping process.

I'm using convertible dresses, I like that the girls can all match but still be unique. They also come with bandeaus (little bra like tube tops) so there won't be too much boob, side or otherwise, unless that's how they want to wear them...

My DIL's attendants wore them, and they seemed to be very popular with the BMs.

Thank you everybody for all of the ideas and comments!!! I think we are going to make one and have all the girls try it on and then we will make the decision!

Where is the best place to purchase the Infinity dress if you don't have someone to make it for you?

I'm also considering that type of dress. I have seen it with a simple, sheer, chiffon skirt over it to dress it up a bit as well. Has anyone tried/seen that?
