What do you do with your engagement ring during the ceremony?

This may seem like dumb question. But I really don't know what you are "suppose" to do with your engagement ring during the ceremony. Help!

I didn't think too much about that either. Christy, I might steal that idea as well. I like the wording about the rings. I'll check with FH and see if it matters to him. Great question, thanks for the responses ladies.

At my wedding my husband just put both on together and they aren't soldered together!

@Kimberly N.: Yes go for it! I just thought it was really cool and I hadn't seen it performed that way before. It was quite short and sweet and didn't add length to the ceremony. They had a non-religious ceremony and this little spiel added a nice touch.

Kept the e-ring on my left hand then switched after- DH said it was good we did that or he would have put it on the wrong finger! (Not to mention we forgot the rings till halfway through the ceremony, but no one needs to know that....)

I've decided not to get a wedding band because I prefer the way my e-ring looks by itself than with a band so, FH will be putting my e-ring back on my finger during the ceremony.

I put my e-ring on my right hand during the ceremony and then moved it over to my left hand after because someone said it was bad luck to wear the e-ring during the actual ceremony. And i figured I need all the help I can get with luck. Smiley winking

I wore my engagement ring through the ceremony. DH put my band on top of the e-ring. I switched it right after the ceremony before more pictures.

This question isn't one I had considered seriously. Great posts, advice and encouragement! I will remove my engagement ring and have the BM carry both rings to the alter. The wedding band will be placed on my left hand first, then the engagement ring.

Definitely not a dumb question!!! I was wondering the same thing, until a friend of mine said to give him the engagement ring so that both can be put on at the same time!!

Oh wow, I haven't even put any thought into this until just now... I think I'm just going to switch the rings around, because I doubt he'll know which hand to put the ring on during the ceremony if I don't wear my engagement ring!!

I love all of the ideas. Since I have 2 wedding bands for opposite sides, I will have my soon-to-be husband place all of them at the appropriate time.

    There are a few options!

You can keep your engagement ring on and switch the ring order after the ceremony, wear your e-ring on your right hand for the ceremony, or not wear your e-ring at all! I had one of my bridesmaids hold on to my e-ring during the ceremony.

I am going to leave my engagement ring on my left have because my ring was a set and the band fits into my e ring. It is a personal preference.
