Another thread asking about whether you plan to keep your dress/what to do with it after the wedding, as well as whether you used your mother's dress for anything got me thinking.
Have you seen your mum's dress? did she keep it or have any interest in you wearing it? Would you have, assuming you fit into it?
here is my mum's.... Apparently it kind of shimmered in the light!
Now... obviously her dress looked gorgeous on her and I do love a vintage dress, but I think everyone deserves to pick their very own frock. Plus, my mum actually rented hers, so there was no possibility to borrow it even if I wanted to - even though with 54 years of marriage under their belts it's obviously quite a lucky dress!
But, for a number of reasons I wouldn't have wanted to wear it. Firstly, she was 15 years younger and a good 10kg lighter when she got married than I will be, so I don't think I could have fit into it. Also, I'm a totally different figure that she is/was and don't think that straight up and down style would suit me.
My MIL brought out hers the other day and despite getting married in the 80s, it's actually really understated and you could totally wear it today! Although again, I think it looked best on the person who it was made for, my lovely MIL.
But it did get me to thinking! Did your mum offer you her dress? Would you wear it, or another family member's? I think I might have, if it was a style that suited me, and I could fit into it!
