What did you do with your bouquet after the wedding?

Kendra, on May 26, 2017 at 5:17 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 21

Something I hadn't thought of until now! Especially because we're leaving on our honeymoon right after the wedding, so it's not even like I can throw the bouquet in a vase with some water and just enjoy them like that until they die. I've seen a few things on Pinterest as far as preservation but I have no idea how practical they are. What did you do/are you planning to do with your bouquet after the wedding?

I used silica and preserved some of the flowers. Hung some others to dry. Then made a shadowbox out of them and some other wedding items.

I gave it to my mom and asked her to hang them upside down for me. I just bought vase and put the dried flowers in it and have it in my kitchen. I wanted to put it in my shadow box but I had a ton of greenery and it's way too big.

Nothing. I had a DW and was staying at a hotel. I just enjoyed them for the few days we were in the hotel before we left to Beijing.

My bouquet had peonies, roses and hydrangeas. I hung it upside down to dry in hopes of putting it in a shadow box, but the peonies did NOT do well at all. So I had to toss it. :-(

I'm going to try silica to preserve them, and then put them in a shadowbox. I'm also leaving for the honeymoon right away, so I was told to put them in the refrigerator while I'm gone.

We did an anniversary dance and I have it to the wife that had been married the longest. We left on our honeymoon the day after so it would have been crazy to keep it

As a gift, a friend preserved mine. It's in a shadow box in my office.

I think I'm going to give mine to FH Grandma. It'll be dead by the end of the honeymoon.

I was thinking about maybe silk flowers or eco flowers. I haven't made up my mind yet. I have looked at wedding bouquets and they are very expensive.

I found an Etsy shop that has some gorgeous flowers (silk) that I'm going to look into. I don't want to watch that gorgeous pile of money rot. I wouldn't be able to throw it out.

I kept mine until it died, but if you aren't going to be home to enjoy it, I'd send it off with someone you love. Or try to preserve it if that is something you are interested in.

I am using Forever In Time after someone recommended it on here. I didn't want to preserve my whole bouquet but I love the idea of drying the flowers and using them to make something. On my list so far is a Christmas ornament, a pendant and a paperweight for DH.

I'm considering preserving a few of the flowers in silica, hanging the rest upside down, and then when that doesn't work asking the florist if she can remake it for me with silk flowers.

Three of my grandparents have passed away. They are buried in the town we are getting married in. I am going to visit them and give each one a part of my bouquet the day after the wedding.

I am sending mine to a company that flattens the flowers in a frame. They are beautiful when finished. I'm just going to have my MOH or mom or someone overnight it to them (I think they are in Florida) the Monday after the wedding for me. Here's a sample picture. I can't wait to be able to hang that in my bedroom!

ETA their website is everlastingsflowers.com if you wanna check it out (Mods I am in no way affiliated and not advertising just passing along my plan)

Hi Colleen, how was the silica method? I was looking into doing something like this but am not sure how it looks/works. Did you have to cut the stems off the flowers or did you put the whole bouquet in the silica gel?
