What color tux shirt for an ivory dress?

Samantha, on June 21, 2011 at 3:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

My dress is ivory and FH hates the ivory dress shirts. I am afraid the white shirts will look bad with my dress. What is everyone else doing? What looks the best?

Thanks!

We are going with an ivory or offwhite shirt.

    Ivory dress for me
ivory shirt, ivory vest, black tie for groom
black shirt, black vest, baby pink tie for groom's men
black shirt, ivory vest, black tie for dads

We're using Men's Warehouse, and the pants + jacket are also black. They have an online tux building tool you could use to piece together a look you might like.

    Hope this helps!

Ivory. My dress is ivory and his shirt and vest will be ivory and the rest of the groomsmen will be in tangerine vest and tie with an ivory shirt

We're going entirely ivory for my FH. Ivory shirt, vest, tie, tux and shoes. But, before you order anything, take a swatch to the tux shop and both of you can compare between the two shirts and decide together.

My dress is ivory and red so he will have an ivory suit and shirt, red tie and vest (not set in stone yet but that's what we're thinking), we'll see when we actually go to the store

Ashley T: We did the exact same thing, except the groom wore a pink bow tie.

Isn't this the million dollar question haha! I wanted to wear ivory and have the guys wear white shirts and grey pants (its a destination wedding) and EVERYONE talked me out of it, so I ordered my dress is white.

IMO it doesn't look bad to mix ivory and white though...here's a couple pics I found on a quick google serach...

My dress is white, but my guys are wearing ivory shirts with chocolate brown vests/tie because those are the colors of the wedding - honestly it is not a big difference and if they have jackets on you will most likely not focus on it unless someone points it out. good luck

Has anyone personally done an ivory dress with black tux (but white shirt/vest/tie)? I don't like the ivory for the groom.. I guess in the picture above doesn't look bad with an ivory dress and white shirt... Hmm
